Fishing Shop Simulator changes
Hi everybody! I'm sorry for the lack of updates to the demo - A lot of the content I was working on is for later game content, also some of the new fishing mechanic work needs time for the beta-players to playtest before I put it out to the demo for you! Thank you everybody for keeping interest in the game, I really appreciate it. I hope to do a new youtube video showcasing all the new content soon
Lots of the work this month has been trying to improve the fishing experience itself, I'm trying to do this cautiously and not making it over-designed
A lot of the work has been me pushing to get the 4th biome ready to go, I'm going to be launching it soon on beta to let players try it out
After the swamps is done, we still need to do water health and later-game fisher stations. Then we can move onto Alpha 7 which focuses on more shop content, because there is SO many fish in the game now, we need more expansions for the shop
The relic system is working, but I now need to figure out the kind of relics to start introducing. Some will be rare furniture for your shop, others could be lore - But I need to figure out how to make the lore relics work, like how do you read them etc
The Swamps Biome
This is where a big chunk of content work is being done! This region will currently now have the most catchable fish of all the biomes
Fishing Mechanic Improvements/Additions
Fishing now has a bit going on with it - Nothing overcomplicated, just building on the current system
You now see your fishing rods durability (The Temp bar) and then the fish HP - The fish now 'fight back' and if you try to reel while they're fighting, your durability drops rapidly
If you begin reeling immediately after the fish finishes fighting, you get a 'Parry' bonus which knocks off 25% of the fishes HP
There is now 'Giga Alert' catches, a 10% chance of this QTE occurring! If you complete it, it will increase the fishes size by 30% and guarantees the fish will at least be moderate to high in weight range (So if a bass can be 10-30 pounds, a giga-catch will guarantee it at least being 20 pounds or more)
I hope by making the QTE a rare event, it won't make it annoying or repetitive. We'll see how everybody feels about this, and make it more common, less common, or increase/decrease the size bonus. We could make this a even more rare event that increases the size more
TONS of new fish for the swamp biome -
Tench
Mudfish
Poison Rudd stuck in a biscuit wrapper
Rudd
Teleogramma
Luthranian Crayfish
Toadfish
Common Snook
Striped Mojarra
Sailfin Molly
Imperial Needlefish
Stone Loach
Dusky Flathead
Crocodile, yeah that's right
