Sharing the Latest Developments – April Update

Hey everyone!

April has been a month of getting back to work and revisiting many of the game’s core systems — and I have to say, it’s been a really fun and rewarding process. These changes are all part of a bigger push to improve the foundation of the game, paving the way for a better experience in the future.

As many of you know, the current focus is on strengthening the existing core gameplay. That means most of the updates listed below are still in development and won't be immediately available. Still, I’d love to share a look at what’s coming in the future Version 2.0 of Cacildes Adventure!

  • AI Improvements

The enemy and player code has been rewritten and unified, giving enemies the same rights and capabilities as the player. That means they now have their own inventory, can choose their gear and weapons, and even... jump!

Yep, enemies can now jump to chase Cacildes when he climbs to hard-to-reach spots. No more standing around helplessly while the hero escapes!

See it in action:

  • Rethinking and Simplifying Inputs

In the current version of the game, heavy and light attacks are mapped to separate buttons — but that’s changing. Inputs have been simplified to avoid confusion and create a smoother experience.

Here’s what’s new:

Light and heavy attacks now share the same button: tap for a light attack, hold for a heavy one.

Sprint and dodge are also mapped to the same button: tap to dodge, hold to sprint (just like in Dark Souls).

Heavy attacks can now be charged — the longer you hold, the more damage you deal!

Check out the new system here:

  • Enhanced Magic, Intuitive Shield Blocking, and Dual-Wielding

Magic is now way more fun to use! You can combine spells with any other weapon or shield (except bows, which for now are only usable in the right hand).

Spells can be charged like heavy attacks for extra damage

Shields now come with their own light and heavy attack sets — and yes, you can bash enemies with them!

Watch it in action:

  • New UI – Starting with the Title Screen

The UI is being redesigned with a focus on accessibility and ease of use with a gamepad. Inputs are clearer, more stylish, and offer better feedback to the player. Also, thanks to a major code refactor, it’ll be much easier to add new options in the future.

Take a peek here:

That’s the current progress toward Version 2.0, which is still a little ways off — but I hope you're as excited about these improvements as I am!

Thanks so much for your continued support! :D
