I wanted to push out the work i've been doing since it's been a couple of weeks since the mount update. The main features included in this patch off the top of my head are :
All items dropped in the world now have respective meshes to easily tell you what the item is, instead of a generic bag. This doesn't include loot bags from enemy deaths because those are composed of multiple items in one drop. Building pieces and workstations are not included at the moment, but if you drop one, you can still pick it back up. Items will always drop directly in front of the player with minimal variation.
You can now offer gold to guards from friendly towns to follow and fight for you. I want to expand this system further in the future with unique NPCs as well as roaming villagers if you find one who's visual style you like, but for now it's just Friendly Guard npcs in towns. By interacting with a guard, a window will pop up asking if the player wants to hire, by accepting, the guard is replaced by a new follower (for a small price of 600 gold coins) who will follow you, fight enemies near you, and will teleport to you if they get too far away (from flying or falling or obstacles). They can be dismissed PERMANENTLY by interacting and selecting Dismiss, which will forfeit the gold you paid them to begin with. Also on Acceptance of payment, you will receive a contract in your inventory that will allow you to summon them to you should they get lost or distracted fighting something. On dismissing the follower, the contract remains, and can still be used to summon a generic follower mercenary, but it won't be the exact one you hired. It can also be sold for coin to any merchant. Weeeee
Also a number of bug fixes incoming with this patch, as well as known issues that have yet to be remedied.
Fixed a bug causing the Elven lift to repeat its actions, locking some players out of town. You can now use the comma key to hide the user interface while mounted on a trusty steed. Removed a progress circle widget that was serving no purpose. Pirates are no longer invincible :P Guards cant interact with the player if they are dead now. Fixed some collisions on world foliage. Fixed some animations on the new Centaur enemy type. Fixed some retreating behavior on the new Brownie enemy type. Changed some transitional effects when entering areas with unique weather patterns (should be less foggy) Brought a floating enemy camp back down to earth. Fixed loot bag behavior to float and spin above the ground for visibility. Made some tweaks to the Lightning bolt spell so that it's a little safer to use if the enemy is right in your face.
That's all for now but there's more work to do, thanks for reading this far :)
