Heyooo, bumbleborn here 👋 I'm excited (and terrified) to announce that Wunder is going to launch on May 4th during the Deckbuilders Fest!

Why Early Access?

The main reason to go Early Access, is to make Wunder one of the best arcade-deckbuilder games. I think it's already pretty good, but I reckon I've only just scratched the surface. Seeing how people react to what's currently in the game will help shape everything to come.

A lot of the modern game dev advice is to make a game quickly, get it out there and move on. I absolutely get the reasons why, but I really like this little coin flipping game, this was supposed to be a month long game jam, but even after 8 months I have so much more I want to add.

Overview

Even with only a third of the planned coins & talismans, the game has a bunch of build variety and unique interactions that can propel you to victory. Currently there are;

  • 6 starting decks to choose from, each with their own talent.

  • 5 rivers to journey through culminating in the endless mode, Asphodel.

  • 28 Coins with their own mechanics

  • 28 Talismans that provide passive buffs

Roadmap

I'm not gonna announce the full Roadmap today, but I do have 5 Major updates planned! This month will be focused on balance changes and fixing any bugs, but I'm aiming to get an update out every month!

Coins

A lot of coins have effects that you can build an entire deck around, even simple coins like the Holy Shield with enough upgrades can become completely overpowered.

Talismans

28 Talismans, and almost all of them change how your battles will go in a big way. In future updates we'll be adding a lot more, once we hit about 50 I'll introduce rarities, making some harder to find than others.

Decks

There are 6 decks currently and whilst a few are simple, some like the Philosopher completely change how you play, becoming more powerful when you upgrade coins to do nothing.

I have at least 15 decks planned for the full game, but I've had 2 more ideas recently for really fun decks so there's a good chance there will be 20 decks by 1.0.

I really like mechanics that do something a bit more than +5 this or -5 that, there is some of that of course but I'm always trying to find a way to offset it with a different condition or just having an outright unique effect.

The Team

Bumbleborn (me) - I'm the main dev on the game, I've been making games for about a decade and do bits of everything. My first indie game (Echo: The Oracle's Scroll) came out in 2024 for the Playdate and people seemed to really like it. Wunder is my second indie game and the first I'm making with my partner.

Mumble (Emily) - She did the art for the coins, key art, logo, etc. basically anything that doesn't look temp and a bit jank, she did it. She's a fantastic 3D character artist.

Miso & Mushroom - Our cats, they do QA sometimes but mostly just scream for snacks.
