changedFirst, you may be wondering, what on earth is 'Vitrified' and why am I seeing community updates for it? Well, that's because 'Father of AI' has had a name change, but I promise it is still the same game, with the same setting, same story, and same mechanics. 'Vitrified' is just a better fit, is less clunky, and in my opinion, sounds cooler. If you know what vitrification means, and more importantly, what causes it, that may give a clue to a key part of the story ;)
addedAlong with a new name, you may notice the snazzy new key art, which depicts the player and ALAN facing down one of the mighty giant sand worms, which have become the poster child of the game. With that brings a host of comparisons to Dune, which I welcome and have enjoyed! The world of Dune is one of my biggest inspirations after all.
addedNow, progress. I had a couple of less productive months at the end of 2024, but 2025 has been full steam ahead. At the last post, no areas in the game could be called complete. Now, we have two major areas that are finished and another that is close. Along with a host of ALAN teamwork mechanics, new mutant enemies and proper survival mechanics, 'worm fields' have been invented. Finally there is a way to interact with the worms, and I'm very proud of how fun they are to navigate. I won't spoil the mechanics involved, just watch your step.
addedSo lots of progress has been made, and the game has a new identity. What next? One word - demo. The very thought of finally releasing something playable both excites and frightens me, but I can assure you it is not too far away. My goal of releasing a demo for the June Next Fest is now looking slightly less likely, but a summer release date feels very much on the cards.

Thank you for sticking with me and following the progress of my weird little game. I appreciate you more than you know. Until next time.
