Meet our newest NPC companion. Unit-K9 "Echo", a dog companion that helps you survive in Datura City. Unit-K9, codename "Echo," is a police dog left behind after the outbreak. Echo can be found in the Datura City Police Station's dog kennel.
Steam post imageAs Echo is already a trained dog, players can use commands to do various actions like Fetch, Attack, Distract, Guard, and Locate.
Fetch - The owner player can aim at an item and ask Echo to Fetch. If it is close to an enemy, Echo will stealthily pick it up and bring it to the player.
Attack - During combat, Echo will attack enemies randomly, but the player can aim at an enemy and use the Attack command to ask Echo to focus on that enemy.
Distract - Player can aim at an area and use Distract. Echo will run over that location and start howling to lure nearby enemies to its position.
Guard - If you need an area protected, you can mark that area using Guard, and Echo won't let any enemy enter that area.
Locate - This action is very useful for finding materials. Give Echo the scent of a similar material, and it will go around the building and mark all the places you can find that material.
As a dog owner, taking care of Echo will be your responsibility. Build her a home in your rooftop base to keep her safe. Feed her food to keep her happy and energetic. Take her to Elara Grave, the Doctor NPC, to treat her wounds. Find her toys to play with in the base. Instead of having her fetch random junk for you, play real fetch with her with tennis balls. Like other NPCs, Echo also has its own reputation system. A higher reputation means better obedience. A lower reputation can make Echo leave your base.
Unit-K9 "Echo" is our $75,000 stretch goal on Kickstarter. Help us reach the goal to make her available in the game. We have a lot more cool stuff planned to include in Echo's design.
