changedFinishing Save SystemPrevious version switched to using single-file saves, which I was quite proud of, but I was really hoping the single-file system would work a lot better than it was. I have spend way too much time trying to make it work, but there was still a noticeable performance hit when creating/opening menu that I could not get rid of. So 0.4 version is going back to using 2 file save system, which I really hate, but don’t have a lot of choice anymore.
changedFinishing Save SystemGame will now save with *.sav file and *.h.sav preview file. The .h file is not needed to load the game and if it’s not present, the game will just use the slower loading method. So if you are one of the amazing people sending bug-related save files and such, you can still just send the main file.
addedFinalizing OrdersPreset order options were reworked quite a bit. Some options were simplified while adding new options, to make preset orders more versatile. Vehicle Refit was removed. Restricting vehicle cargo can now be done only with Per Cargo options. Per Car and Switch options were changed and moved to a separate pop-up window.
changedSwitching YardsOne of the features that changed the most in this update was train switching. Switching previously worked with direct vehicle references, which was very limiting and overcomplicated. Instead, switching can now be used to add or remove train elements in station based on set of conditions.
addedLine Manager & Cargo GuideLines – new order option was added. Lines can be created and edited from Line Manager tab in the Vehicles window and then simply select the desired line in the vehicle Orders tab. Advantages of using lines instead of individual vehicle orders are the option to easily edit orders for all vehicles on a line and see financial statistics of entire line, including stations. Current Line limitations are inability to use Per Car options and inability to display path highlight when placing an order.
addedLine Manager & Cargo GuideCargo Guide and Industry Chains guide were added to highlight the nightmare that is Transporters industry chains. Cargo guide can be opened by clicking on any cargo type in the UI and shows what industries produce and consume said cargo,

Finishing Save System

Previous version switched to using single-file saves, which I was quite proud of, but I was really hoping the single-file system would work a lot better than it was. I have spend way too much time trying to make it work, but there was still a noticeable performance hit when creating/opening menu that I could not get rid of. So 0.4 version is going back to using 2 file save system, which I really hate, but don’t have a lot of choice anymore.

Previous files still work, old 0.3 save files will just keep causing the menu to load slower. All you have to do is resave with the current version and main menu and save/load menu will work much faster.

Finalizing Orders

Preset order options were reworked quite a bit. Some options were simplified while adding new options, to make preset orders more versatile. Vehicle Refit was removed. Restricting vehicle cargo can now be done only with Per Cargo options. Per Car and Switch options were changed and moved to a separate pop-up window.

I’m quite happy with the current orders structure and what they offer now. Other than a few layout changes and one or two minor additions, this should be the final look and they should not change anymore.

Switching Yards

One of the features that changed the most in this update was train switching. Switching previously worked with direct vehicle references, which was very limiting and overcomplicated. Instead, switching can now be used to add or remove train elements in station based on set of conditions.

Current conditions are vehicle type, cargo type, and cargo load. This means that you can have one train come into a station, offload all full oil tankers, and have different train come in, pick up full oil tankers, and continue to another station, without having to transfer any cargo to or from the station. Essentially creating fully functional switching (shunting) yards! Switching can also be used to reorder trains in station, but switching track is sill required for this.

Creating switching yards was one of the original goals for this game and I’m very happy with how this works right now. With the current order changes, everything is a lot easier to set up.

Line Manager & Cargo Guide

Lines – new order option was added.

Cargo Guide and Industry Chains guide were added to highlight the nightmare that is Transporters industry chains. Cargo guide can be opened by clicking on any cargo type in the UI and shows what industries produce and consume said cargo,
