A demo version, finally!

I'm happy to announce a brand new demo version of The Maze Project. This demo version is now available for free to everyone. Invite your friends or family to share some scary experiences and test your logical thinking in some of the challenges that the maze lays down on you.

This project has come a long way from its early beginnings from before two years to now, and now I want to share that progress with you so you can try out the game and get a feeling for yourself of how the game is in its current state.

What about other platforms?

The first, and the only one for now, is Windows. There will be support for the macOS and Linux operating systems sometime later. The game needs to be further tested when it comes to these systems, so it can be fully optimized and run smoothly.

How long will the demo last?

There are no plans as of now to end the demo. Even though the main reason for the demo was the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the demo will stay up even after the Next Fest ends.

Is the first maze different in some shape or form from the full version?

As of now, the first maze has almost identical features as the one in the full version of the game. There were some tweaks when it comes to the story elements that are laid out throughout the maze, so it won't spoil some of the planned story. Functionality wise, same puzzles, same manifestations and same game progression.

Fun fact: This version of the game is actually more up to date, because it is built of off the v0.3 version, which is not even accessible to the game testers yet.

Limitations of the demo version

There are some limitations when it comes to this version of the game.

  • No multiplayer access

  • Only one save allowed at a time

  • Less content than in the full game

  • Only the first maze is included

  • Steam achievements are disabled

Bugs

Since the game is in early access, the demo may be prone to some bugs. Feel free to use the in-game bug reporting feature that can be found in the game settings to report any bugs you encounter along your way. The demo version will receive bug fixes and maybe occasionally some game content updates to make the demo more fun.
