  • Gameplay
addedA somewhat simpler game than Cocktail Mixer is Code Hacker. You gain access to some hotel rooms by 1. having the corresponding level in electronics and 2. guessing the room code with the code hacking function. The higher your level, the more difficult the codes you can crack. I'm thinking about limiting the guessing to a certain number of attempts or adding more letters or symbols, but this is the current state for now. The game is inspired by MasterMind and Wordle, just in case you were wondering :)

Before I bring you up to date on the dialogue system, I would like to briefly inform you that there will be some mechanisms in the game that can be described as mini-games. The Lost Hotel will have a number of features and mini-games that should be a nice way to pass the time, but are also good for unlocking areas or dialogue options.

I dedicated the whole two months of September and October to the development of three mini-games called "Cocktail Mixer", "Code Hacker" and "CapsulePets" (that they all start with a C might be a coincidence). One of them has even been released, please read to the end to find out which one and where :D

One of the first things you can do in the game is to create your own hotelier signature drink at the lobby bar. You decide the shape of the glass, the ingredients by taste, aroma and texture, as well as a range of different toppings. There are endless ways to mix a customised cocktail, and once you've found more ingredients, there's even more. When you're done, you can name your cocktail and if the hotel guests are curious enough to try it, they'll order it. You can mix everything from completely neutral water to the creamiest sour-bitter-earthy drinks. Later in the game, you can mix drinks for some of the guests according to their personal preferences.

The third mini-game can only be played inside the arcade room. So I designed that first. At the beginning, the room is locked and only serves as a storage room. Your task is to gain access and breathe life into the room. Maybe you can repair the machines or find a few hidden ... items?!

One of the three slot machines is not broken. The game that can be played on said machine is called CapsulePets, and being a 90s kid who grew up with Pokémon and still plays Pokémon games, it's heavily inspired by Pokémon battles. You can battle and collect pets to earn points and level up on the leaderboard. There are 4 elements - fire, water, earth and air - and for each element there are 4 pets. So in total I have created 16 pets to collect. For each element there is an epic pet that is stronger and rarer than the other 3. Each captured pet gives points, the stronger the more points.

I published the game on Itch.io, so if you want to check it out, go ahead! The leaderboard is already quite full!

That's it for today :D

Best regards, pixlerin
