Now that I’ve presented a playable demo for the second time at GG Bavaria in Munich (a German gaming convention), I’m finally releasing it online. I’ve tried to incorporate as much feedback as possible so you can enjoy a smooth gaming experience and get a little glimpse into my game, The Lost Hotel, which I’ve been developing for over four years now.

What’s included in the Alpha Demo

The demo offers a glimpse into what the full game will become:

Beginning & Character

  • An intro to get into the mood

  • A character creator to design your own hotelier

NPCs & Interactions

  • Interact with a small selection of NPCs, each of whom has their own daily routine

  • A dialogue system where you can unlock options

Story & Progression

  • Vent the kitchen

  • Restore the robots’ hard disc on a computer

  • A cutscene after the first night that deepens the narrative

  • Unlock your first 2 Memory Fragments

  • Learn new skills in the archive to improve your hotel management

  • Unlock a new garden area

  • Grow berries and harvest them after 4 in-game days (there is a button to skip days in the options menu)

  • Use them to create a new recipe

  • Teach it to the robots and update the daily menu

Activities & Side Content

  • Mix cocktails at the bar

  • Play the arcade minigame "CapsulePets"

  • Freely explore the hotel, discover rooms, and soak in the atmosphere

  • The main demo activities take place in the lobby and on the second deck. There's nothing ready on the upper decks (except for the lab, but you don't have the required level for that yet).

Why an Alpha Demo?

The Lost Hotel is currently running a Kickstarter campaign. This demo is a huge part of that, it’s designed to give you a real feel for the game and help you decide if you want to support its development.

If you enjoy your time in the hotel, consider checking out the campaign and becoming part of the journey. Every bit of support helps bring the full vision to life.

The demo isn’t running completely smoothly yet, but I’d still love to hear your feedback. I’ve added a bug report feature to the options menu (accessible via Tab or Esc). Alternatively, you can also reach out to me on Instagram, via email, or on the Discord channel.

Your feedback is incredibly valuable to help shape, balance, and improve the game moving forward.

Thank You

Let's see where the journey takes us.

That's it for today :D

Best regards,

pixlerin
