LIZARDFOLK UPDATE

The biggest update is our change to Lizardfolk characters. The original "death & sacrifice" focused Lizardfolk felt underwhelming and overlapped too much with summon compositions. So we've redesigned Lizardfolk, giving them their very own "Lizardfolk" type and a unique "Scheme" keyword.

  • Scheme keyword."Scheme" triggers whenever the character does not attack.

  • PRALIATOR (New). The Lizardfolk have a brand-new unit with the ability to steam-roll weaker enemies.

  • HYPOGEAN (Updated). The Hypogean was reworked to provide the Lizardfolk build a powerful tank.

  • AMGUAN (Updated). The Amguan now offers powerful buffs to Lizardfolk.

Note: Taur, the Exiled has also been updated to work with Lizardfolk.

NEW ENEMIES

Three new slime-based encounters have been added to The Upper Dungeon!

NEW LOOT

  • Mystery Potions. The Witch can now sell a Mystery Potion that transforms into a random item when purchased.

  • Potion of Greater Versatility. Mages who use a Potion of Greater Versatility can use equipment from any class.

  • Cursed Amulet. The Cursed Amulet grants +2 Attack but deals the wearer 1 damage after attacking.

  • Counterfeit Coins. Counterfeit Coins are a new artifact that reduces the cost of buying characters by 2 gold.

UNIT UPDATES

  • The Hunter has been redesigned, now dealing 1 damage to the lowest health enemy after attacking. Developer note: While the Hunter was a powerful unit in certain circumstances, they weren't seeing much play. In testing, we found this change makes them a more natural fit for builds that need a little crowd control, as well as "Doom"-focused builds.

  • Level 1 Rangers will no longer be found in The Upper Dungeon (though Level 2 and 3 Rangers can still be found later on). Developer note: There were too many summon-synergizing characters in The Upper Dungeon, making summon builds a natural choice for most runs. In this update (and future updates) we aim to better balance the number of units per composition in each area.

OTHER CHANGES

  • You can now sell items in treasure chest rooms.

  • Units "bounce" a little slower on higher fastforward settings.

ENEMY BALANCE CHANGES

  • Abaddon is now easier on New Game-. Developer noteAbaddon being too difficult is the most common piece of feedback we've gotten - so perhaps this issue needs a bit of context. We chose to make Abaddon VERY hard because we wanted to celebrate amazing runs. Without a challenging end-boss, a "perfect" run feels a lot like a "pretty-good" run. They both end up at the same place. In our view, the true test of a run isn't whether you beat Abaddon but how long you can survive. However, we realize that not everyone might feel this way, so we've decided to make Abaddon substantially easier on New Game-.
  • The Hand of Abaddon now only gains attack if an allied monster dies. Previously the ability triggered when any ally died, which was a hard counter to the Void Summoner.

  • The Firis boss fight no longer has Cursed Urns.

  • Clypaen Simulae now has 10HP (down from 12HP).

  • Mass of Orbs now only summon three Wandering Orbs on death (previously would fill the board).

  • Lycanthropes now only have 6HP (down from 8HP).

  • Bitter Tooth is now slightly easier on New Game+ and
