Tenebris: Terra Incognita changes
Dear friends, our team is actively working on the final release update 1.0, which will add a huge amount of content and gameplay improvements to the game. In this post, we'll focus on the Miles archetype. We'll talk about his further development up to level 30 and share some mechanics of the new subclasses. In the demo version and beyond, you could get acquainted with the starting hero Miles, or the Marine, as he is commonly known in our community.
Miles
Miles is one of the two starting heroes available to the player. He is a classic DD hero capable of dealing a lot of damage to the enemy. In a team, he competes with the sniper (Pellentes) for first place in damage dealt.
The sniper has a high chance of critical hits and significant critical damage, as well as powerful abilities that can destroy a target with a single shot. So what is Miles' strength?First of all, this hero is capable of dealing massive damage thanks to his two grenades.
Like the Sniper, Miles has the ability to ignore enemy armor. Thanks to his “Forced March” skill, he can make two moves in a row at the beginning of the game.In addition, Miles effectively causes bleeding in enemies, making him a versatile offensive character. This hero can be effective both on the front and back lines, depending on your play style. Miles is also capable of disrupting the initiative of enemies, especially bosses, with his skill. Thanks to this variability, many prefer to take two damage-dealing heroes into their team at once. This aggressive playstyle allows you to complete missions quickly, but it also carries high risks. The hero wears medium armor, so when on the front line, he often finds himself walking the razor's edge.
Impetum
Advanced form of Miles. This class becomes available at level 11. At this stage, you need to start taking build creation seriously, as epic items and new abilities become available. To play this hero effectively, you need to choose a specialization and determine his role in the team.
On the front line is almost always a melee fighter, inflicting a large amount of bleeding and dealing serious damage to bleeding targets. The hero does well on the front line with the protection of a tank and a medic, but without them, he is practically doomed. This playstyle also allows you to make the maximum number of attacks per round.
On the second line is a grenadier-shooter whose task is to deal massive damage and control the initiative bar of the most dangerous enemies.
You should look for a hero with the “Schizoid Embolism” perk, which allows you to get a double turn in the first turn of the battle. Then the hero's chain of actions may look like this.
Throw a “Fragmentation Grenade” — kill the enemy with the “Execution” skill — “Forced March” — “Blade Strike” — “Exploit Vulnerability.”
A total of five attacks in one round is unattainable for other heroes! The competition for a place on the team among characters at these levels becomes very intense. But thanks to his tactical attack chains, Impetum competes successfully and demonstrates impressive results!
Who to choose next?
Picking a hero class at level 21 isn't easy, as you have to choose between the Berserker and Bellator classes. Bellators are longtime rivals of the Berserkers and true masters of firearms. These two groups have been locked in a long-standing ideological battle over the question: which is better, firearms or melee combat?
Bellator
The structure of the Bellator division resembles that of an order, with its internal organization and rituals hidden from the uninitiated. The division has a special status and the opportunity to be the first to receive the best military toys: all the latest guns, armor samples, and other gadgets that make fighters from other units green with envy.
Steam post imageA very fast hero, capable of quickly gaining the initiative. Thanks to his special ability, he can destroy enemy strategies, causing confusion in their ranks. Enemy healers will curse you, because there may be no one left to heal! Has a large arsenal of ranged attacks and can be a very successful grenadier. However, they are equipped with medium armor and often takes up a position behind his stronger colleagues.
The gem of the class is the ability to apply the "Unity" effect with skills. “Unity” significantly increases the hero's damage, increasing their critical chance and critical damage. And with a certain level of levelling up, “Unity” will additionally increase the hero's initiative and accuracy.
The passive skill “Leader's Charisma” increases the maximum amount of Unity from 30 to 40, and the talent “I'm Not a Boy Anymore!” further increases total damage by 1% for each Unity. Thus, the player can get +40% damage on all skills!
The longer the battle lasts, the more the Unity effect accumulates, and the more damage the character deals. This is especially useful in long battles with powerful opponents and endless hordes of enemies.
The character's ability to share their “Unity” with an ally, significantly enhancing their combat abilities, is particularly impressive. And if your partner belongs to an attacking class, they will literally turn into a god of war!
Berserker
These fighters are fierce warriors, as if they had stepped out of the pages of an ancient heroic epos. Those who have seen a soldier from the Berserker squad single-handedly repel an attack by a whole crowd of enemies surrounding him will never forget it.
Steam post imageEyewitnesses describe the spectacle as follows:
“A real hurricane! Everyone around was swept away like a storm!” “I didn't have time to see anything—these monsters just flew apart as if they had been ground up in a mixer.”
Berserker carries two blades and does not use firearms, considering them a sign of weakness. He has every right to do so, as he is clad in heavy armor of a new type! However, he does not refuse to use grenades, which help him take out the rear ranks of enemies.
The hero is capable of inflicting a large amount of bleeding and increasing the power of his attacks in proportion to the number of cuts on his enemies.
Developing the “Predatory Blades” talent gives the hero the ability to ignore armor during a combo attack. The main feature of this class, which allows it to fully unleash its potential, is its unique talent, “Bloodlust.”
Unlike his colleague Bellator, Berserker loves to deal heavy burst damage throughout the round and prefers to team up with other damage dealers. The more enemies the group of heroes destroys within a single round, the stronger Berserker becomes. However, if they relax and stop killing, the hero will receive a heavy penalty — “Shackles of Pacifism.”
In addition, there is room for further improvement of this mechanic. With each new round, the timer is reset, and the player must carefully consider their actions for the entire team.
The “Betrezan's Fury” skill allows you to keep all the bonuses from “Bloodlust” received during the round for killing enemies. The more enemies you defeat, the more bonuses you get. Thus, by carefully preparing the key abilities of all heroes, you can destroy many enemies in a round and then activate “Betrezan's Fury” significantly increasing the Berserker's stats.
This character is difficult to master and is only effective in combination with other attacking heroes. However, with the right approach and unlocking his potential, he becomes incredibly powerful. If you want to play as a team of real scoundrels and butchers, take Berserker and let the rivers of blood flow!
In conclusion, a simple answer to the question - “Who to choose: Berserker or Bellator?” - The correct answer is both!
