Survival Log changes
Dear Survivors,
First and foremost, thank you — truly — to everyone who played the Survival Log demo during Steam Next Fest and took the time to share your thoughts with us. Every review, every comment, and every word of feedback has been read and genuinely reflected upon.
Survival Log is the first game from our three-person team. We know it's far from perfect, and we're okay with that — because we're committed to making it better. Some problems are straightforward and can be addressed through regular updates; others are rooted in deeper systems that need to be carefully rethought and redesigned. We won't pretend otherwise: the current demo is still a long way from the experience we know it can be.
We've been genuinely touched by how many of you took the time to write detailed reviews — some running into the thousands of words. Your encouragement keeps us going, and your honest criticism keeps us grounded. The way we see it: when players care enough to tell you what's wrong, it means they still believe in what you're building.
With that spirit in mind, here's a look at what we're prioritizing as we head toward the full release — along with our thinking on the feedback that's been raised most often.
🎮 What We're Working On
Rebuilding the Core Experience
We're restructuring foundational systems from the ground up to improve performance, responsiveness, and overall stability. On the visual side, we're also overhauling character animations and interactions so they feel natural and fluid rather than stiff or misaligned. By the time we're back with a playable build, clipping and animation jank will be relics of the past — and the world of Survival Log will feel like a place you can actually get lost in.
Beyond the Survival Loop
The limited scope of the demo meant gameplay could quickly start to feel like a repetitive cycle — eat, sleep, fix the door, repeat. That changes in the full release. We're reworking the entire structure to introduce a wider variety of activities, meaningful long-term goals, and a branching narrative that responds to your choices. You won't just be surviving — you'll be deciding who lives, who suffers, and what kind of world rises from the ashes.
Making Supplies Actually Matter
We're redesigning the economy, weight system, and resource logistics to make every item feel genuinely significant. Supplies will become more accessible — but also more purposeful. Resources won't just be what keeps you breathing; they'll be leverage. The difference between scraping by and getting ahead.
Build out your own end-of-the-world hideout. Strip a store bare and open up shop yourself. Reinforce that safe so no one can take what's yours. These are the kinds of experiences we're working toward — and we're always open to more ideas from you.
✨ New Content in the Full Release
More Playable Characters
The full release will introduce several new characters, each with their own abilities, backstories, and starting shelters. They'll face completely different disaster scenarios and crises, with their stories branching across multiple distinct endings.
Expanded Shelters & Gameplay Systems
Your shelter won't be confined to a single living room anymore. Unlock basements, rooftops, and other spaces — then fill them with gardens, kitchens, and fully wired electrical setups. Make the apocalypse your own.
New Locations to Explore
Before disaster strikes, places like renovation suppliers and used car dealerships will let you make critical preparation choices — decisions that will ripple through your entire run.
Once things fall apart, abandoned supermarkets, schools, and office buildings become new frontiers. They hold the best loot in the world. They're also where the worst things happen.
Endless Mode & Custom Difficulty
By popular request, Endless Mode and fully customizable difficulty settings will be rolled out after the full release launches. Think you've mastered survival? Prove it.
⏳ Demo Access Closes on March 10
We've seen the messages —"When's something big actually dropping?"
As the plans above show, we're stepping into a new phase: heads-down, full-speed development on the complete game. To give it the focus it deserves, the Survival Log demo will officially come down on March 10.
But closing the demo doesn't mean going quiet. Here's how we'll stay connected as we build toward the full release:
- Dev LogsWe'll post regular updates on our progress — concept sketches, new item designs, in-engine previews, and more. You'll see it as it happens.
Closed Playtests: Your feedback will still be essential before we ship. We'll be running invite-only test sessions periodically, with priority access going to members of our Discord server and Steam community.
Your Ideas Are Welcome: Got a story arc you'd love to see? A mechanic that feels like it belongs in this world? Drop it in the comments or reach out to us directly in our community spaces — we read everything.
Join our official Discord to stay close to the development process and connect with other survivors who are along for the ride.
We'll see you on the other side — with something worth waiting for.
