Repeated intro
Hello and welcome! I'm excited to go over all the changes and updates we've been working on this month. January is always a good time to set goals and make plans, and Odisi games has been doing exactly that. In this update we'll go over all the new modes, features, and abilities that we've been working on. So strap in, secure your helmet, and power up your engines.
What changed
- Gameplay
- Maps
- Balance
- Compatibility
[NEW MAPS]
New maps are coming in 2025, though the new maps are still in testing now. There's a lot of room to navigate, a few spots for epic firefights, and a couple spots that are great for those who like to hide and snipe. I'm really excited to see this map flushed out!
[MISSILES]
The missiles have been in the game a long time, and a lot of the drones have access to them. The missiles currently are quick, and if you're targeted you can only escape through use of an ability; like invisibility. The team has been working to make missiles just as quick on the horizontal, and just a little slower to climb giving players a way to escape a missile by ascending. This is going to change the game, and make all drones more versatile.
[FLAIRS]
The flairs look beautiful, and do a great job at deflecting missiles. Currently we're working through a couple of issues getting the flairs implemented. I'm excited to see flairs as part of the modular line up.
[CHAOS]
We've been doing further testing on destructibility of items, and we have signs that can be shot down as well as barrels that explode and windows that can be destroyed. To complete this project we'll be considering every existing map and seeing how best to implement these cool destructables we've created.
[MODULAR WEAPONS]
Having the ability to create your own load out will definitely create an instant immersion and replayability will go up too. Currently each drone has a specified weapon, though we've been testing putting each weapon on each drone. Having the largest weapon on the smallest drone does make a difference, though a lot of balance testing will be required to get this one just right.
[ROADMAP]
There's always more to come with Sky Link, so keep your eyes peeled as we're working on a lot of new things! Here's a small summary of what to expect in 2025:
Pinging on the maps is a feature that has been requested and is being worked on! Watch for this one to come out! We have a new drone that is being worked on, it's sleek, fast, and looks incredible. Radar changes are planned in order to better accomodate the 360 degree environment. Changing weapons will be an option in the future of Sky Link. I'm personally watching for this one! Destructible elements make any game way more fun. I can't wait to find a way to use these to my advantage! Future progression changes will include drone attachments and modules you unlock with XP, contracts, and missions. As missiles have become more popular, we've been working on flairs on the back end. I can't wait to see all the madness when this is released!
PLAYTESTS
During our Friday event we do beta testing; checking balance in game while learning to master the finer mechanics of flight. Sky Link: Freefire is difficult to master, though truly easy to pick up and just play.
Last Friday’s playtest was shared on Youtube live, and can be viewed here: https://youtube.com/live/E8M_PWnH4pw We get together every Friday at 1 PM PST and Saturdays at 4:30 PM PST. It’d be awesome if you could stop by and check it out with us!
