Happy New Year!! With the holidays behind us I'm excited to show off some of the hard work from 2024. So welcome in! Grab a bite and check it out!
2024 was an incredible year. Full of surprises, fun, and new people. Thank you all who have joined in, and a huge welcome to anyone who wants to join our beta tests in 2025! Without any further delay, here's an Odisi 2024 Sky Link Recap.
[NO MORE RESPAWN]
The most noticeable change from our public playtesting has been the removal of blackboxes. Team deathmatch has had the black boxes and respawning completely removed, so now when your'e out, you're out! The games are so fast now there's an extra 2 rounds that have been added to make it up.
[PHYSICS BASED FLIGHT]
Possibly the best change so far has been the focus and attention to detail in the flight of the drones themselves. With the update to Unreal Engine 5 Odisi's taken the time to really do well with the flight within Sky Link. Each drone has a unique flight pattern and propellers.
[SOCIAL]
Chat has been implemented within Sky Link, and it's awesome to be able to communicate within the game. Having that line of communication can make the difference between an impressive victor and a total defeat. You can now group with your friends and play matches more specifically to your liking.
[CHAOS]
Chaos testing is our implementation of destructible elements in Sky Link, like barrels you can shoot that explode or windows that take damage. Chaos testing began in August and has not yet been added to the public beta testing, though it looks really good now.
[MODULAR WEAPONS]
Having an individual load out makes a huge difference in immersion, and I'm so excited to see this one! Right now in Sky Link each drone has a specific weapon. We've set it up so that you can put any weapon on any drone and that's being testing internally. My favorite has been to take the Megadon's huge weapon and put it on a small drone like the Cyclops. Not only weapons, but specials are modular so this is going to be a huge game changer for immersion. Pictured below is the Cyclops with the Raptor's dual machine guns. Quite a combo!
[AI SYSTEMS]
In June we overhauled out AI system and the difficulty was so improved we've had to nerf it more recently. Skirmish mode allows you to fight against the AI bots in a free for all system. The bots now use specials and abilities, and at the proper times! The intensity in Skirmish has never been higher than it was in 2024.
[ROADMAP]
There's always more to come with Sky Link, so keep your eyes peeled as we're working on a lot of new things! Here's a small summary of what to expect in 2025:
Pinging on the maps is a feature that has been requested and is being worked on! Watch for this one to come out! We have a new drone that is being worked on, it's sleek, fast, and looks incredible. Radar changes are planned in order to better accomodate the 360 degree environment. Changing weapons will be an option in the future of Sky Link. I'm personally watching for this one! Destructible elements make any game way more fun. I can't wait to find a way to use these to my advantage! Future progression changes will include drone attachments and modules you unlock with XP, contracts, and missions. As missiles have become more popular, we've been working on flairs on the back end. I can't wait to see all the madness when this is released!
