Rise of the Settlement changes
Greetings settlers, 🏛️
The time has come to step into your own world.
With version 0.0.4, you can now create your own character — a long-awaited feature that lets one of your settlers truly become you.
Choose your name, your starting stats, and shape your fate through a unique card-based destiny system.
🧙♂️ New Feature – Character Creation
At the start of a new game, you’ll now be able to create your personal character and define who you are within your settlement. This feature gives you the chance to guide your people not just as an unseen leader, but as one of them.
Here’s how it works:
You begin your journey by drawing from 24 Fate Cards — mysterious tarot-style cards that each influence your destiny.
The process happens in 4 rounds, each presenting 6 random cards. You choose one card per round, shaping your fate step by step.
Every Fate Card grants unique bonuses, adding specific stat increases or traits to your character.
As the chosen one, you are naturally luckier than any other settler, starting with +1 base Luck by default.
Once your character is created and reach the settlement, you can distribute an additional 10 stat points into any attributes you wish — choose wisely, as your selections cannot be undone once assigned.
This new system brings personalization and role-play to a new level, allowing each player to craft a unique identity and starting advantage for their settlement.

Perks that can form a synergy are now visually highlighted after one is activated.
Minor layout tweaks to the Settlement Needs page.
Added a Quit Game confirmation dialog.
Building destructions now appear in the Chronicle.
Increased visibility of the speed buttons (1x, 2x, 4x, 6x).

Updated the Technology Tree visuals to take advantage of 0.0.3’s resolution improvements.
The Perks dialog can now be closed by clicking in the middle area (X button).
Added confirmation pop-ups when saving or loading the game.
Feast quests now show additional info when multiple settlers can join the settlement.
💬 Feedback & Quality of Life
The Tutorial can now be reset from the Settings menu.
Active quests can now be canceled by right-clicking them in the quest slot.
Some players mentioned that a few resources — such as potatoes and corn — may not be historically accurate for the era.
This is important feedback, and I absolutely plan to revisit this in a future historical and era overhaul.
At the moment, the game doesn’t yet have a clearly defined time or region, but I intend to introduce era progression and regional variation later on.
That’s when I’ll carefully review which crops, tools, and resources fit each historical context more accurately.
🪶 Final Notes
Version 0.0.4 marks another important step in shaping Rise of the Settlement into a living world — one where you truly belong among your settlers.
