fixedDEVELOPMENT UPDATE # 6This update highlights the changes made during the most recent steam update (alpha version 0.7.0) which is now live on steam. This update addresses a lot of bugs and quality of life fixes as well as game improvements as we head closer to a Beta release. The main areas of the game addressed with new updates are as follows; Puzzle System, Collection Mechanics, Minor Combat Adjustments, UI/UX design, Story Elements, and Game Flow/Feel. Detailed patch notes listed below;
addedPUZZLE UPDATES:The puzzle system for Rawshire has been enhanced. There are now a more cohesive set of puzzle tools and interactable objects for the player to explore. They also fit more cohesively with the lore of the game. These new items include a secret portal that the player can find and unlock new areas of Rawshire.
addedCOLLECTION UPDATES:Since the implementation of the CODEX system, it has been expanded upon to include a reward based system. This means that for each discovery you receive experience and or skill points to help build and push your character development forward. This system also includes the new "Lost Soul" events which can be viewed in the CODEX under the Ancestors tab. These events require the player to solve a puzzle and then traverse through the secret portal to save (or not) the trapped Lost Dragon Soul. The Lost stones have also been hidden in each level, good luck!
changedUI/UX UPDATES:The UI/UX design for the Main menu, Pause Menu, Level complete Menu and loading screen have been updated (again) to better fit the design and address feedback from the play testers. This will be an ongoing process of continuous polish to ensure all UI systems are working and looking amazing!

addedSTORY FLOW:More extra effort went into ensuring that the level transitions, cutscenes, title screens, etc. feel and flow seamlessly without hindering the game experience. More Story elements were added to each level, including a revamp of the story intro adding the first player choice! Also added interactive dialogue in the game, and new cutscenes.

STORY FLOW:

More extra effort went into ensuring that the level transitions, cutscenes, title screens, etc. feel and flow seamlessly without hindering the game experience. More Story elements were added to each level, including a revamp of the story intro adding the first player choice! Also added interactive dialogue in the game, and new cutscenes.

New player choice to start the game. Allows the player boost their stats (or hinder) for the start of the game!

BUG FIXES:

Number of bug fixes were addressed including, falling through world in Sanctuary, Camera clipping, UI counting bugs, backend fixes and more. See full list below

Patch Notes from this update are below;

STORY - New cutscenes when entering the Sanctuary at specific moments throughout the story - Added card based choice system to start of the game (to be expanded upon in the Lost Soul Events) - Added dialogue system with Mother to increase lore and player direction - Added story dialogue after Boss defeated - Re-did the story intro scene, still needs work but in what is considered an alpha state. UI/UX - Fixed controller bugs - revamped the codex scrolling - update main menu UI (again) - updated loading screen UI (again) - update level complete UI (work in progress - smoothed out the collection number bars) - Implemented more of the codex system; includes Rawshire, Discoveries, Creatures, Lost Souls, Tutorials SOUND - Started adding and improving the sound in game (work in progress) need more sounds as lots are missing. - Added sounds for menus - Added sounds for secrets and puzzles BACKEND - Re-organized save file (again), you will loose previous saves from previous alpha builds PUZZLE SYSTEM - Updated puzzle system objects (buttons, torches, doors, decals, SFX) - Added a portal system for secrets and implemented player teleportation seamlessly into gameplay (no loading screen) - Updated questing system to account for lost souls - Fixed puzzles in Mystic Caves levels PLAYER CONTROLER - Fix bugs with controller layout on steam (for xbox controllers) - improved player reaction time for certain actions - added a player sleep button (why not) ENVRIONMENT IMPROVEMENTS - Enhanced MC levels - Fixed arena for Titan Boss fight. - Fixed all puzzles in game to new system and objects - updated portal transitions - Added more environmental additions to the game - Fixed some water issues due to lighting (ongoing) BUG FIXES - bugs found with controls - Bugs found with new UI - Fixed counting bug with player map - fixed portal bug where player ends up clipping through the map on teleport - fixed UI skill tree counting bug - fixed scroll menus in UI - more general bug fixing based on game flow (objects not appearing when they should) ENEMIES - added new enemy Turtork - added new enemy Dracona (ICE) - Fixed issues with Risen spawning - Light balance on Boss fights (ongoing)

WHATS NEXT:

Alpha 0.7.1 will focus on Combat, Boss Fights, and AI. (this has been ongoing for a while but will come to a completion for the next update)
