Hello Raiders!
We cannot wait to release our first major update: The Ghoulag Update.
We know it's taken longer than expected, and we aim to do better moving forward. We hear you, loud and clear!
In this post, we will talk about one of the key features coming to Raiders of Blackveil: Champion Talents.
What is it?
Champion Talents are champion-specific upgrades that you acquire as you level up during a raid. These talents are aimed at modifying your champion’s playstyle and opening up new builds and synergies.
A consistent piece of feedback we’ve received since launch is that champions can feel repetitive over time. We agree. Champion Talents represent a powerful design space for us to address this. Some talents will radically change how champions are played, such as giving Draskyl a ranged attack, turning Beatrice’s turrets into bombs, or making Jaméra’s ultimate a melee ability.
We also want to use this system to make certain abilities more viable to build around. Some talents will greatly empower your Offense, Special, Defensive, and Ultimate abilities. For example, turning Ironhorn’s Special into an AoE damage ability that can be recast if you stun an enemy, or giving Jaméra's offensive ability a larger radius and causing it to trigger twice.
Lastly, many of these talents synergize well with each other, and we look forward to seeing how you combine them with interesting perks and equipment!
How does it work?
As you level up, you will reach certain milestones where you can choose between two talents. This is an important decision, so you have the ability to re-roll each talent choice once.
These upgrades are generally quite powerful, and they give character experience more value, making Elite and Super Elite rooms (which give more experience) more impactful.
