addedHello friends, here's what's new in August for RadCity: A Post-Apocalyptic Adventure!
addedContent is about 80% complete . New completed areas are the CET power plant , the railway roundhouse , the bus garage and more. The only big locations left are the subway tunnels and train station (in the last third of the game). There are some side missions left to implement, but at this point the first 2/3 of the game are entering final polishing phase . Also there's only a few dozens assets left on the list, including final character models for NPCs.
changedThe final trailer is in the works, showcasing most areas in the game. Meanwhile, revamped capsule art with (hopefully) final version, that best communicates the atmospheric, exploration aspect of this game, its visuals and vibe. RadCity is a visual treat full of industrial rust, grit and radiation. Also updated all texts and descriptions on the steam page to make everything clearer.
changedReworked the system for hiding objects in front of the camera by splitting every big interior to its walls, so it never hinders the player. Whole buildings also fade automatically.
changedReworked AI for rad zombies, they have more animations, a dormant state from which they can be woken up when you get close, some can be blinded by the flashlight, will chase and follow sounds better, and they will keep appearing around you when it's night - better find a safe route home!
changedHowever, time and budget are starting to get strained , and with more time than expected used on improvements so far (reworking some systems after player feedback), some planned stuff has to be put on low priority , and may or may not make it in release (or saved for a later big update):

Reworked the system for hiding objects in front of the camera by splitting every big interior to its walls, so it never hinders the player. Whole buildings also fade automatically.

Reworked AI for rad zombies, they have more animations, a dormant state from which they can be woken up when you get close, some can be blinded by the flashlight, will chase and follow sounds better, and they will keep appearing around you when it's night - better find a safe route home!

Now comes another hard part: thoroughly testing and polishing. Hopefully it will be all done by October, so the late 2026 release date can work. All systems will get another round of polish, all levels will get another detail pass.

However, time and budget are starting to get strained, and with more time than expected used on improvements so far (reworking some systems after player feedback), some planned stuff has to be put on low priority, and may or may not make it in release (or saved for a later big update):

  • controller support (takes too much time to get perfect)

  • main localizations in Japanese, Polish, German, Portuguese and Russian (no budget)

  • minor QoL things (no time)

For now the focus is only on finishing content in time and testing it so it's a great experience.

babadokia is VERY small and so far has operated 100% independent, self funded - there's simply no budget for everything, so please consider supporting this project (and future projects) on the website here.
