Hi Survivors!

We’re back with another look into the wasteland workshop. Following our recent "Holiday Overhaul," this sprint has been all about precision and clarity. We want your focus to be on outrunning the apocalypse, not fighting the interface.

From streamlining your view of the world to making sure your gear acts exactly how you expect, here’s a breakdown of the latest quality-of-life improvements heading your way.

Focus on the Action: Dynamic HUD & Objective Tracking

Survival is hard enough without a cluttered screen. We’ve introduced several smart UI behaviors to keep your view clean and focused on what matters most.

  • Smart HUD Visibility: The HUD now automatically hides during sequences that don’t require player input or during specific pop-ups that only need a few elements. No more misclicks when you’re just trying to enjoy the mayhem.

  • Scrolling ObjectivesTo keep the wasteland manageable, the objective panel now supports scrolling and automatically hides completed tasks to make room for your new priorities.
  • Clearer Environmental FeedbackWe’ve added a dedicated banner to clearly show if your river check roll passed or failed.

Sharper Gear & Accurate Intel

We’ve refined how you interact with your equipment and how you read the threats surrounding you.

  • Contextual Gear Options: We’ve scrubbed unnecessary clutter from your gear menus. The "Use Gear" option is now hidden if there are no valid targets or if the gear only has passive effects. Similarly, refuel and reload prompts will only appear for gear that actually uses those mechanics.

  • Predictive DamageYou can now see the consequences of your actions before you commit. We’ve added predictive damage to enemy health bars, so you’ll know exactly how much "punch" your next move carries.

  • Accurate Monster TrackingThe monster counters on both the minimap and main map have been updated for 100% accuracy. They now correctly reflect the total count, including monsters currently attached to your fellow survivors.

Controller Support & Polish (Work in Progress)

We are still "heads-down" on making the experience feel as native on a controller as it does on a keyboard and mouse.

  • Dynamic Input Switching: We are finalizing support for switching devices on the fly. Icon prompts and buttons will now update instantly based on whether you're using a controller or a mouse.

  • Navigation & Highlighting: We are currently refining controller navigation to ensure selecting tiles and cards feels snappy and responsive.

  • Safety FirstWe’ve added new exit confirmations and updated icons in the player lobby to ensure you don't accidentally abandon your crew due to a misclick.

Watching these systems click into place brings us one step closer to the definitive Maximum Apocalypse experience. We can’t wait to show you more as we move into the next phase of development!

Stay safe out there!
