changedThe month of February for team Lost Isle has been mostly about bug fixing, polish, and balance. We made our demo public during Steam's PvP Fest a few weeks ago, and received a whole slew of constructive feedback submissions that we're very grateful for. We haven't even released yet and our community is already so awesome! You have helped us identify which areas need the most immediate attention, as well as where we might want to pivot in the long term to provide the best experience possible for everyone who plays our game.
addedOur small team grew by 1 as we brought on a new member whose sole focus is QA! Lost Isle is a game of ambitious scale with lots of nooks and crannies where bugs can hide, and with this new addition to our team we hope to leave (almost) no stone unturned.
fixedWhile those things are undoubtedly extremely important, frankly... they're not as exciting as new stuff. So instead of sharing a long list of the things we've fixed in the last month, we thought we'd highlight some of the machine changes we've recently implemented. Here they are, in glorious alphabetical order!
changedArcane Grinder (NEW)Steam post imageThe Arcane Grinder is a refinement machine that turns crystal shards into their corresponding spell dusts (e.g. ruby shards into fire spell dust), and bones into arcane powder.
addedComposter (NEW)Steam post imageThe Composter is a refinement machine that turns organic resources (foods, plant fibers, wood) into a new Fertilizer item that is required for crafting higher tier planter boxes for growing crops.
addedDrying Rack (MODIFIED)Steam post imageThe Drying Rack is an existing refinement machine with slightly modified functionality. It turns animal hides into leather, and you can add Tannin as an optional accelerant which decreases process time and increases total output.

Machines: New and Old

Arcane Grinder (NEW)

Steam post imageThe Arcane Grinder is a refinement machine that turns crystal shards into their corresponding spell dusts (e.g. ruby shards into fire spell dust), and bones into arcane powder.

Charcoal Kiln (NEW)

Steam post imageThe Charcoal Kiln is a refinement machine that turns wood into charcoal, which is needed for smelting elementium bars in furnaces. You can also get charcoal as a byproduct through every wood-burning machine, but the kiln is the most efficient method.

Composter (NEW)

Steam post imageThe Composter is a refinement machine that turns organic resources (foods, plant fibers, wood) into a new Fertilizer item that is required for crafting higher tier planter boxes for growing crops.

Drying Rack (MODIFIED)

Steam post imageThe Drying Rack is an existing refinement machine with slightly modified functionality. It turns animal hides into leather, and you can add Tannin as an optional accelerant which decreases process time and increases total output.

Rain Catcher (NEW)

Steam post imageThe Rain Catcher passively generates water over time which can be used for drinking or watering crops. This is primarily a quality of life improvement for late game so that players don't always have to run buckets of water between sources and their base.

Reliquary (MODIFIED)

Steam post imageThe Reliquary has several different functions, but only one that has been modified. You can now find relics of varying rarity all over the isle, which can be transmuted at a Reliquary for a number of motes (used for progressing through research trees). Mote quantity correlates with relic rarity, so the rarer the relic, the more motes you'll receive during transmutation.

Resource Cabinet (NEW)

Steam post imageThe Resource Cabinet is a new model that has replaced the old Supply Barrel. It has the same functionalities where it tells you which resource type and quantity you need to deposit inside to prevent base decay, and now it even displays some of the information on the outside so you can check at a glance without having to interact and open the inventory.

Spinning Wheel (MODIFIED)

Steam post imageThe Spinning Wheel was a research station before, and has now been changed to be a refinement machine that turns plant fibers and/or fur into woven cloth, and shimmerstalk fibers into spellweave cloth.

Stitching Table (NEW)

The Stitching Table is a new model replacing the functionality that was previously tied to the spinning wheel. It's a research station that allows progression through the cloth and leather research trees.

Ultra Forge (NEW)

The Ultra Forge is a refinement machine that refines the same resources as the Furnace (iron ore > iron bars, elementium ore + charcoal > elementium bars, sand > glass, dirt > adobe bricks) but it has twice as many input slots which process simultaneously for maximum output.
