TUTORIAL
The tutorial has received an additional layer of polish.
USER INTERFACE & EXPERIENCE
Card packs, ticket packs, and trinket packs now use different pack art.
Packs are now positioned in the shop from left to right as follows: card packs, ticket packs, trinket packs.
Added a background panel to pack contents for better visibility.
BALANCE
The leftmost card on the field now has its value doubled.
All decks now start with face cards and aces.
Card packs contain only face cards and aces.
Developer's note: The dominance mechanic is a core part of the game, but it often didn't feel like it mattered. With the introduction of face cards and aces from the very start of all runs, and the simple point doubling mechanic, dominance becomes something that always makes a difference, and more often than before makes a BIG difference.
Swapped prices of ticket and trinket packs.
Epaulet change: "Card packs are more likely to contain face cards and aces" -> "Card packs are more likely to contain higher ranked cards."
Tweezers, Iron, Sewing Machine, Dice can now be used once per round, instead of once per encounter.
Developer's note: With this change we hope to introduce some more meaningful decision making moments into runs, with these trinkets acting as pseudo-consumables.
Magic Hat no longer works on trinket packs.
BUG FIXES
Fixed copies of corrupted cards created by lust sometimes behaving unpredictably.
Cards affected by trinkets that modify base value now stack with upgrades.
Cards now reset their values after The Shopkeeper.
Sewing Machine no longer makes cards undiscardable.
Sewing Machine no longer makes corrupted cards playable.
Fixed visual bugs related to slice and squish effects.
VISUALS
Cards now cast a shadow when on the field.
WHAT'S NEXT?
We are not yet sure where to next focus our efforts the most, with the options being:
VFX and SFX polish.
A sort of compendium for tracking player progress.
Player profiles, mid-run saving, cloud saves etc.
The next update will probably focus on at least one of those, with work on new content being mostly paused until all 3 options above are addressed.
