Hey Downers! (that's how you will be addressed in these posts, not sorry). It's been a week since launch, and in the meantime I've been hard at work improving the game.

It's been a week since launch, and in the meantime I've been hard at work improving the game.

This first update is focused on addressing some of the biggest UX pains I've spotted since launch, including bug fixes, changes, and some new additions.

My goal is to make the communication between the game and the player as clear as possible. While there is still work to do, this should be a big step in the right direction.

WORDING:

  • Updated many card/trinket descriptions to make them more clear.

  • Introduced the"gilded"keyword to describe cards that score gold instead of points.

USER INTERFACE & EXPERIENCE:

  • The deck selection screen now shows the cards included in the deck laid out on the table and able to be inspected, along with any starting trinkets.

  • On run end an extra menu and restart button will appear.

  • Added golden effect to gilded cards.

  • Gilded cards now have gold colored value text.

  • The score section of the sidebar is now a dynamic section that serves multiple purposes.

    • During a face-off it displays the score.

    • When hovering cards, trinkets, or certain UI elements it displays additional information if there is any. (Mouse scroll wheel can be used to scroll the text if necessary.)

    • Otherwise displays encounter information and/or flavor text.

  • Encounter information no longer available on encounter name plate hover.

  • Unresolved cards now display their value in white, and resolved cards display their value in blue or gold depending on whether they are gilded or not.

  • When looking at your draw pile, discarded cards are included and appear darker.

  • When looking at your draw pile, the sidebar stays in focus.

  • Cards in your hand are no longer ordered in accordance to dominance. They are now ordered in the order they were drawn. This should make it easier to follow corrupted cards' in-hand effects that proc when other cards are drawn.

BUG FIXES:

  • Trinket names in deck descriptions now display properly.

  • Removed option to continue a run that's already over.

  • You can no longer use the navigation buttons during a face-off.

  • You can no longer use the navigation buttons while the table is moving.

  • You can no longer use the navigation buttons while advancing to next encounter.

  • You can no longer look at your draw pile while the table is moving.

  • You can no longer look at your draw pile while advancing to next encounter.

  • You can no longer look at your draw pile while its contents are changing.

  • You can now look at your draw pile after face-off (before clicking continue).

  • Fixed bug causing no card draw on first tutorial ticket pack.

BALANCE:

  • Double edged sword no longer applies to Jacks.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The next update will mainly focus on expanding the content, mostly by adding new trinkets, but possibly also adding new decks, tables, and encounters, as well as reworking existing stuff. Stay tuned!
