Fishing Shop Simulator changes
Hi everyone. I've been super busy working on later game content, so you have not seen a lot of updates to the demo. Now that some of these mechanics do effect the demo it's about time to roll it out and let people try it out!
This is a big update for fishing mechanics, so please let me know in the steam comments after you've tried it out for a while. I've tried to make the system very easy to balance/tune. In the future, I will add in difficulty settings so people can tune this better, right now I'd call this 'Medium' difficulty. Overall the fishing is still not complicated or crazy - Just has a bit more to it now!
Hopefully it'll go over well with people, I've been having the beta players play with this for a while so that I could tune it.
Fishing Mechanic Updates
New - Fishing 2.0 - Temperature Bar - A temperature bar now appears when a fish begins biting, to help you manage the line from breaking
New - Fishing 2.0 - Fish HP - Fish now have a HP bar appear as part of the fishing experience. The bar is bigger/smaller based on the fishes HP, if its a big bar, you know it's a rare catch
New - Fishing 2.0 - Fighting/Struggling - Fish will now 'Fight back' against you, in these moments reeling will generate 5X heat/line damage, so you want to avoid reeling while it fights
New - Fishing 2.0 - Parrying/Countering - If you immediately begin reeling after a fish finishes fighting, you can get a parry - Which does 25% of the fishes total HP in damage to the fish!
Other Updates/Additions
New - Relics Mechanic! Very early WIP, there will be a chance to fish out relic objects from the water (Only in the starting region atm). A new sound and alert plays when you've caught a relic.
I hope to add lots of relics such as furniture sets and decorations for the store in the future, right now the hat is the test for the system
New - Relic - Bass Hat (Pond Biome)
New - Hat Mechanic - Pet/Dog can now have hats equipped by holding the hat, left clicking on dog. You aim at the hat on dogs head to pick up the hat again!
Change - End of day - No longer prompts immediately, you now trigger it with hitting enter! Fishing won't work at end of day, and customers won't spawn late at night.
Change - Fish now land slightly in front of you now
Change - Day legnth default is now 45s
Giga Catches
New Mechanic - Giga Catches! Not overcomplicated, but a rare QTE event that appears when you get a fish bite. If successful, it will increase your fishes weight by 30%
10% chance for Giga catch events to happen
If completed, the fish weight will be 30% bigger
If completed, garuntees the base fish weight is 50% or higher (Example: If a bass can be 10-20 pounds, giga catch garuntees it will at least be 15 pounds or higher, then the 30% is applied after that)
Even if you fail the event, you can still catch the fish normally - This is just a additional bonus/meta for the game
