changedWhat To ExpectCurrently the roguelike beta runs off a very simple loop:
addedWhat To ExpectStart a new run, picking a smaller-than-usual preset deck based on their normal preset counterparts
addedWhat To ExpectChoose from 3 different sets of 5 cards to add to your deck
addedWhat To ExpectChoose from 2 different passives to add to your run
changedWhat To ExpectWhen losing, you'll be sent to an "in-progress" stats screen, that will show you how many bosses you beat, cards you had, and so on - current plan is to reward particularly long streaks or total win numbers with cards, but none are implemented just yet, hence the beta. This beta's really more about balancing this and ironing out bugs, as right now I expect this to be a little too hard.

Welcome or Welcome Back!

After quite a while of talking about it and a whole lot of work, the roguelike beta is now live on the playtesting branch. If you want to be a part of it, join the discord here to get the access details, or if you have me added somewhere just message me and ask.

What To Expect

Currently the roguelike beta runs off a very simple loop:

  1. Start a new run, picking a smaller-than-usual preset deck based on their normal preset counterparts

  2. Fight the first boss, a difficulty 1 boss and, hopefully, win!

  3. Choose from 3 different sets of 5 cards to add to your deck

  4. Choose from 2 different passives to add to your run

  5. Face a boss from the difficulty up

  6. Repeat this until you lose.

When losing, you'll be sent to an "in-progress" stats screen, that will show you how many bosses you beat, cards you had, and so on - current plan is to reward particularly long streaks or total win numbers with cards, but none are implemented just yet, hence the beta. This beta's really more about balancing this and ironing out bugs, as right now I expect this to be a little too hard.

Saving Your Run

Yes, you can save your run, you do not have to beat your run in one sitting and you can exit the game, or use other modes within the game perfectly fine without ruining your run (i think. Do not quote me on that. Please tell me if this doesn't work or if there's bugs with this lmfao).

When exiting, you'll be sent back to the last time you won a match and had not yet made any choices.

"Doesn't that mean I can just reroll my boss/rewards?"

Yes. I don't care, it's your game, cheat if you want, it's a single player game lmao.

This is the last big mode to be added, from here on out, it's cards, passives, more card buckets, more bosses, nice little additions like cosmetics and, of course, fixes, balance and visual upgrades. My thanks to everyone that's been sticking with me through this project and of course those that have played the game and wishlisted it - to reiterate my plans, once the game is completely complete in terms of having a satisfactory amount of bosses, passives, card base, unlockable cards and so on, the game will move to either being in Early Access or the full release, depending on how much more there is to add. If it's Early Access chances are it won't be in there long unless a lot more work needs doing or I decide to move to EA earlier than what I currently plan. Either way, all I've got for you all today, as always-

Till next time... and-
