Controller support is here!
With our second update, Earth vs Mars is now fully playable with a controller. We've also made some tuning updates to commander abilities and unit costs and squashed a few bugs.
A lot of the changes included in today’s update are thanks to your feedback, so please continue to report any issues to us at help.relic.com or drop by our Discord to chat with the development team and other players.
The next focus for the team is full Steam Deck support; stay tuned for updates on that in the coming weeks.
General
Controller support! Earth vs Mars is now fully playable on controller
The Map Explorer achievement can now be earned through the Map Lab, as well as through Versus mode
Tuning
Spliced units now generate half as much commander ability energy when they are damaged. Note: When attacking a unit, the amount of energy generated is scaled to the cost of the unit. Spliced units, having an effective cost rather than a literal cost, were being overvalued
Annabel Corman’s Field Medic commander ability now restores 35 health, down from 50
Commander Zarb’s Mutate and Minehead Mutate commander ability now target up to 4 units on Hard difficulty, down from 5
Commander Zarb’s Bombing Run ability now targets 5 units, down from 6 on Hard difficulty
The Mars Ultratank now costs 3500, down from 4000
The Earth Skyhawk now costs 2500, down from 2800
Campaign Mission Fugitive has been tuned to be easier on Easy/Normal Difficulty
Bug Fixes
Spliced units that hover no longer take damage from starting their turn on Creep tiles
Commander ability energy gain is now capped by the actual damage done to a unit, if the potential damage value was more than required to destroy the unit
Martian spliced units are now correctly displayed as an infantry-type unit instead of tank-type on the Unit Info panel
Fixed an issue where some unit type icons were grayed out in the Unit Info panel
A tutorial panel no longer appears behind the enemy Commander panel by default in campaign mission First Contact
Units no longer move from the corner of the map during the end-of-mission sequence of campaign mission Set The Table
Uncontrolled unit movement in several end-of-mission sequences is no longer affected by the Unit Movement Speed setting
The AI will no longer produce units that won’t have a chance to act in the final turn of a Holdout mission
Fixed an issue where movies would not play on Steam Deck
The HUD is now hidden during narrative scenes
Fixed an issue where the game would sync Rendering and Language settings via cloud sync. This change optimizes the experience for players switching between PC and Steam Deck.
