Our biggest update yet brings a host of new content (including new creatures!) alongside official Steam Deck verification.
NEW CREATURES
Campaign, skirmish and multiplayer modes now have three new types of creature DNA available in the Splice-O-Tron.
The Beaver is a powerful amphibious engineer that can restrict enemy movement using its Build Dam ability and gains additional defense when starting a turn on water
The Scorpion can use its Clamping Strike to lock an opponent in place and its tail to place a deadly acid pool under enemy units
And the fearsome Red Panda gains health by attacking its opponents and can use its Ferocious Bellow to damage and drive back enemies
PASSIVE COMMANDER ABILITIES
Each of the 9 commanders now has their own unique passive ability. From earning cash by defeating enemy units to faster ability cooldowns, the new abilities open up new tactical and strategic possibilities for both campaign and skirmish modes.
Annabel Corman
Regenerative Byproducts - Headquarters tiles restore +100% increased health
Colonel Marcus Shaw
Terrain Boost - Hill/Forest/Mountain/City/Industry/Airport tiles provide increased defense
Major Nia West
Field Requisitions - Capturing a city heals all nearby friendly units for 30 health
Dr. Squance and Dr. Blevins
Vector Calculations - Friendly flying units move one tile further
Eric the Mutant

Gene Orson, CEO
Bounty Hunting - Gain Cash for every enemy defeated
Kaz Smith

NEW CAMPAIGN MODES
For players looking for a bigger challenge, we’ve added two new campaign modes.
Permadeath Mode - spliced creatures die permanently if they're killed in battle
Brutal Mode - The stakes are even higher in this mode where not only do splice creatures die permanently, but losing a mission ends the campaign
STEAM DECK VERIFIED
Earth vs Mars is now fully Steam Deck verified allowing you to experience the full Earth vs Mars campaign, multiplayer and versus modes on the go. We’ve made some UI, controller, and combat screen options to maximize performance on the Steam Deck.
NEW ACHIEVEMENTS
We’ve also added 6 new achievements based around the new creatures and campaign modifiers.
New Features
3 New creatures – Beaver, Scorpion and the Red Panda
9 Commander Passives
Added Permadeath campaign mode
Added Brutal Mode campaign mode
6 New Achievements
Steam Deck Verified
Updates
Added a note about combat screen options to the tutorial
Localization updates for French, Italian, Germany and Spain
Minor UI layout and size tweaks for Steam Deck
Tuning
Reduced the number of units affected by Emperor Zarb’s mutate ability on normal difficulty. This will make that ability a little less punishing, especially on maps where there is a lot of combat
Increased the time it takes for the A.I. commander powers to fully charge. Reduces A.I. Commander ability spamming, particularly in missions with a lot of combat
Bug Fixes
Fixed a fog of war performance issue that occurred on some versions of the Steam Deck OS
Fixed an issue where custom maps may not have had the correct Commander options
Thanks for supporting Earth vs Mars. A lot of the changes we make to the game come from player feedback. So, please continue to report any issues to us at help.relic.com or drop by our Discord to chat with the team.
