Curry Princess GOLD changes
I usually post these development updates at the beginning of each month, but this one ended up being a bit late — sorry about that.
This monthly update is something I do mainly as a personal goal, so it’s not like I’ve promised it to anyone. Still, if there happens to be even one person quietly looking forward to the release of Curry Princess Gold … I felt I should at least apologize.
The reason for the delay is very simple: I forgot to put it on my schedule…
With that said, here’s a summary of the progress from November up to today.
Event Demo Build
Since last month, I’ve been working on building and debugging a demo version for upcoming events.
For this event build, I’m aiming to showcase the “Spice System+” (including Elemental Curry and new magic abilities).
At the moment, the core programming is in reasonably good shape, but the visuals and sound are still mostly placeholder implementations.
For the event demo, my current goals are:
Upgrading the newly added magic from “rough placeholder” to something a bit more presentable
Adjusting the Curry Book so that players can actually browse and enjoy it
First Promotional Video Released
This time, I created my very first promotional video.
(This is Japanese version. An English version of the PV will be released at a later date.)
English version is avairable now!
To help convey how the game plays and feels, I focused on real gameplay footage and included sound effects as well. I hope the controls and overall tempo come across, at least a little.
As for the music: since the visuals combine rough pixel art with modern visual effects, I aimed for a mix of chiptune-style sounds and richer tones, trying to find the right balance between the two. The game is still very much in development, but I hope the video helps convey some of its world and atmosphere.
If you have any impressions or feedback, I’d be very happy to hear them.
Progress Video #1: Improving Gameplay Feedback
This video shows adjustments to gameplay feedback, including text-based effects.
I also implemented new feedback responses for various button inputs.
Progress Video #2: Gameplay Footage for Event Applications
This is gameplay footage edited specifically for event applications.
There still aren’t many parts of the game that are ready to show, but I tried to put it together with the hope that viewers can get a sense of:
what kind of game it is
and what kind of atmosphere it has
Progress Video #3: A Farewell to an “Elemental Curry” Animation
Regarding the movement of “ Elemental Curry,” we decided that this particular animation was a bit too noisy and distracting, so it has been retired. Since I put a lot of work into it, I couldn’t quite bring myself to let it disappear completely — so this video serves as a small farewell.
Just to be clear: the Elemental Curry system itself has not been cut. Only this specific animation was reconsidered.
A different animation is already in place — you can see it in the PV above!
That’s all for the current progress update.
Things are slowly but steadily coming together, so I’ll continue moving forward one step at a time.
Thank you very much for reading.
Bonus: My Development Setup
This is the environment where I develop the game. From drawing pixel art and key visuals by hand to music composition, everything is done here.
