CODEX MORTIS changes
Two new necromancy spells have arrived in CODEX MORTIS — plus a major Bone Cathedral rebalance that should make runs feel significantly smoother.
New Spell: Jaw Strike
Jaw Strike conjures a necrotic jaw ahead of you that snaps shut — a brutal, directional close-range attack with multi-bite follow-ups.
Base Damage: 165 per bite · Bites: 3 sequential per cast · Cooldown: 1.0s
Aim during the prewarm phase by changing your movement direction. Horizontal attacks have longer range; vertical attacks cover a wider area.
Synergizes with Soul Burn, Hemorrhage, Weaken, Slow, Terror, and Confusion.
New Spell: Bone Trail
Bone Trail leaves damaging bone piles on the ground as you move — turning your footsteps into a persistent hazard zone.
Base Damage: 60 per tick (0.5s tick rate) · Pile Duration: 5.0s · Cooldown: 1.0s
Bone piles spawn automatically while you're moving. Stand still and nothing spawns.
Synergizes with Soul Burn, Hemorrhage, Slow, Terror, Confusion, Spirit Walk, Corpse Explosion, and Death Nova.
Bone Cathedral Rebalance
We've tuned the Bone Cathedral to reward progress more fairly while keeping the challenge intact:
Regular enemies: 20% less HP, 50% more XP
Mini-bosses: 33% less HP, 50% more XP
Bosses: 33% less HP, 50% more XP
Thamuel: 50% less HP
Boss attack telegraphs extended across all difficulty levels (Easy through Torment)
What's Next
This update marks the beginning of a new design direction: movement-integrated combat. We're exploring necromancy skills where your movement IS the attack — spells that charge while walking, sweeping strikes tied to momentum, and abilities that reward aggressive positioning.
Stand still and you're just a necromancer. Keep moving and you become a force of death in motion. 💀
Stay tuned.
