addedPast, Present, and FutureBlackout has been in development since April 2023 and was worked on by a team of 5 Designers until July 2023 with 3 Artists & 2 Audio Producers joining us on our final month. This game was our College Capstone Project where we had 4 months to make a game and post regular updates to our Itch.io Page , and the initial goal was to leave it on there with maybe a possible Steam Release happening in the future.
changedPast, Present, and FutureSince then, all of the team has graduated and mostly all moved on from the project for various reasons. So why/how is this game still getting updates?
changedPast, Present, and FutureThe game was picked back up by one of the original designers in January 2024 and began active development again for a Steam Release for Portfolio reasons, that designer being me the person writing this post: Hello . So currently the project only has one active developer. The game has received 3 updates since being initially put onto Steam, you can see community posts about those here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2461070/view/4022345969718475704?l=english https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2461070/view/3964924274910975790?l=english https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2461070/view/3964924274909653665?l=english
changedWhat's next?Blackout is currently going through what I like to call its "Art Phase" which means the next couple of updates will be solely focused on improving the Textures, Animations, SFX, VFX, Lighting, etc. of the game to leave behind the "In-Dev" look it currently has and showcase why the game is called "Blackout" (yes there is a reason!).
addedWhat's next? This isn't to say that the only updates to come will be Art related. There is one more Content Update planned with a couple of new End-Game features, mechanics, interactables, and more but this will be after the Art updates are done.
changedThat's all Folks!Thank you for checking out this project and this community post, I'm sure almost no one reads these but still want to keep those who check these out updated!

Past, Present, and Future

Blackout has been in development since April 2023 and was worked on by a team of 5 Designers until July 2023 with 3 Artists & 2 Audio Producers joining us on our final month. This game was our College Capstone Project where we had 4 months to make a game and post regular updates to our Itch.io Page, and the initial goal was to leave it on there with maybe a possible Steam Release happening in the future.

Since then, all of the team has graduated and mostly all moved on from the project for various reasons. So why/how is this game still getting updates?

The game was picked back up by one of the original designers in January 2024 and began active development again for a Steam Release for Portfolio reasons, that designer being me the person writing this post: Hello.

What's next?

Blackout is currently going through what I like to call its "Art Phase" which means the next couple of updates will be solely focused on improving the Textures, Animations, SFX, VFX, Lighting, etc. of the game to leave behind the "In-Dev" look it currently has and showcase why the game is called "Blackout" (yes there is a reason!).

This isn't to say that the only updates to come will be Art related. There is one more Content Update planned with a couple of new End-Game features, mechanics, interactables, and more but this will be after the Art updates are done.

After that, there will be the Full Release Update which will be the last and final update to the game transitioning it from Early Access to Full Release as there is nothing more planned for this Project since it's mainly a Portfolio Piece for our Team. Moving on to other projects would be the most beneficial thing for us in terms of building up our Portfolios.

That's all Folks!

Thank you for checking out this project and this community post, I'm sure almost no one reads these but still want to keep those who check these out updated!
