changedWhat was broken?Previously, if you took a high-risk/high-reward unique item—like the Blood-Iron Matrix or the Omnipath Core —to the Tradeskill menu, upgrading the item wouldn't properly update its stats. You would spend your hard-earned Obsidian and Crystal, the item would level up in name, but your Max HP, NCU, and Resistances wouldn't visually change on the item tooltips or in your character sheet.
changedWhat’s fixed in 1.2.1?We have completely overhauled the stat-scaling engine in the background.
addedWhat’s fixed in 1.2.1?Dynamic Stat Scaling: Now, when you hit those new upgrade thresholds (e.g., leveling a base item so it goes 0 -> +1 -> +2), the stats will correctly and immediately update on your tooltips.
changedWhat’s fixed in 1.2.1?Risk vs. Reward Maintained: Champion Implants are designed around sacrifices. As you upgrade these items, your Max HP and NCU bonuses will scale up, but so will the negative resistance penalties . A heavily upgraded Shadow Cortex will give you boundless potential, but its physical frailty will become even more extreme.
fixedDo I need to start a new run?No. We built a retroactive stat-scanner into this hotfix. The moment you load your existing save file, the game will automatically scan your inventory, equipped loadout, and belt memories, and instantly patch any unscaled gear to its proper stats based on its current level.

What was broken?

Previously, if you took a high-risk/high-reward unique item—like the Blood-Iron Matrix or the Omnipath Core —to the Tradeskill menu, upgrading the item wouldn't properly update its stats. You would spend your hard-earned Obsidian and Crystal, the item would level up in name, but your Max HP, NCU, and Resistances wouldn't visually change on the item tooltips or in your character sheet.

Because it takes a serious grind to push these base items from +1 to +2 and beyond, seeing no stat payoff was a massive letdown.

What’s fixed in 1.2.1?

We have completely overhauled the stat-scaling engine in the background.

  • Dynamic Stat ScalingNow, when you hit those new upgrade thresholds (e.g., leveling a base item so it goes 0 -> +1 -> +2), the stats will correctly and immediately update on your tooltips.
  • Risk vs. Reward Maintained: Champion Implants are designed around sacrifices. As you upgrade these items, your Max HP and NCU bonuses will scale up, but so will the negative resistance penalties. A heavily upgraded Shadow Cortex will give you boundless potential, but its physical frailty will become even more extreme.

Do I need to start a new run?

No. We built a retroactive stat-scanner into this hotfix. The moment you load your existing save file, the game will automatically scan your inventory, equipped loadout, and belt memories, and instantly patch any unscaled gear to its proper stats based on its current level.

Thank you to everyone who reported this on the forums! Keep hunting, and good luck in the Metropolis.
