To build the tile maps for Where Are You?, I use Tiled.

Tiled is a free editor.

My graphic designer:"Jannik, you did think about the fact that flying creatures always flap their wings, right?"

Me:"Yeah."

Her:"Even when they stay in the same spot?"

Me:"Uh oh..."

That meant a lot of extra work. Okay, quick context.

Normally I only have to tell Tiled once where a creature is located and how fast it moves.

Everything else gets calculated automatically.

But that doesn't work if the creature also needs to move while standing still.

So my job is to manually enter the info for every single state.

There are 12 states and around 20 flying creatures.

So:

  1. Click on the creature

  2. Add a property

  3. Type the property name

  4. Enter the property value => Repeat 11 more times

Today I accidentally right-clicked on a property.

Suddenly this popup appeared that I'd never seen before.

  • Copy, Paste, Remove Property

So I select all the properties -> right-click -> Copy.

Then I pick the next enemy -> right-click (my thoughts: there's no way this works)

-> Paste

...

All properties are there.

Me: "WHAAAAT?! NO WAY. INSANE. DUDE!"

This feature I never even knew existed just saved me a solid hour of work!
