Winter Resort Simulator 3 changes
After a long spell of quiet, Winter Resort Simulator is back in the spotlight – and for good reason. While things may have seemed still on the surface, behind the scenes our team has been hard at work for over a year preparing for this very moment. Today, we’re thrilled to finally share the news.
Watch the teaser to see what’s in store:
Introducing Winter Resort Simulator 3
At last, we can reveal what we’ve been secretly crafting for so long. We can now officially confirm what many of you have been guessing for months: yes – Winter Resort Simulator 3 is in development.
And that’s not all. WRS3 marks a new era for ski resort simulation, setting fresh standards for realism and immersion. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game’s visual fidelity enters an entirely new league.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5
Choosing the right engine is one of the most important decisions in game development, and it’s one we considered carefully. The first two instalments of Winter Resort Simulator were developed with Unity – like many other indie titles.
At heart, WRS has always been an open-world simulator, with a strong focus on realistic cable cars, snow groomers, and resort vehicles. By moving to Unreal Engine 5, we’re overcoming the technical limitations that held us back in WRS2.
The result? Dramatically improved graphics that outshine the previous games, plus a wealth of new possibilities. Thanks to level streaming, WRS3 can now feature much larger worlds – with distant areas unloaded to boost performance significantly.
This isn’t our first Unreal Engine project, either. Our other games – SubwaySim Hamburg and SubwaySim 2 – already run on UE5. That means our team is bringing a wealth of experience and expertise directly into the development of WRS3.
Fresh Vision, Familiar Spirit
The switch in technology means WRS3 will feel like a whole new experience – but it will remain true to the heart of the series. You can expect a carefully balanced mix of innovative ideas and the tried-and-tested features you love.
Two principles guide our work. First, our connection to the community, to you. This time, we want to take you behind the scenes and give you regular insights into development. We’ve got plenty planned – but we’ll reveal more step by step.
Second, our commitment to modding. Without it, Simuverse wouldn’t exist – we began life as a modding team. So it was essential to ensure WRS3 supports modding from the ground up, even with the move to Unreal Engine. Our experience with SubwaySim 2 – our first fully moddable Unreal title – has given us a solid foundation for this.
Looking Ahead
Winter Resort Simulator 3 is still in active development and will be ready for release in winter 2026/27.
Between now and then, we’ll be sharing regular updates, insights, and behind-the-scenes content here on Steam and on our social media channels. Most importantly, we’ll be listening to your feedback on our Discord server – your ideas help shape the future of WRS.
We can’t wait to embark on this journey together.
