changedShips in the game are more than just a set of progressively stronger stat vessels. They can be customized and specialized towards the path that you choose in the game. Besides the basic stats and a ship class role bonus characteristic, each ship class has a number of upgrade slots to accommodate weapon, defense and utility modules that affect various areas of gameplay mechanics. Want to absolutely dominate most every combat encounter? Load up on weapon upgrades and pile on improved defenses and buffs to your momentum, but be careful! Modules do come with tradeoffs, such as increased fuel costs or penalties to other stats. Most upgrade modules can be purchased at Starbases, and some faction Starbases will have modules unique to that faction. Modules can also be found as loot drops from specific anomaly encounters, port discoveries, or plain old combat looting or as rewards for reaching certain thresholds, it's all for you to discover! Most modules can transfer between ships as well or be uninstalled and stored in your Locker accessible at any Starbase if you want to switch up your loadout to meet a specific goal.
