Vampires: Bloodlord Rising changes
Bloodlords!
Enchantments help you adapt your gear to better suit your hunt style.
Like punishing enemies who dare to strike you? Let them be the architects of their own suffering and enchant Poison on Hit Received. The more they attack, the faster they rot.
Prefer to fight from the shadows? Enchant for Bonus Damage While Unseen. They won't even know what hit them.
Are you ready to explore the wondrous world of enchanting now, m'lord?
The Enchanting Altar
To assemble the Altar itself, you will need to gather materials from all across Sangavia. But what exactly do you need?
Chiseled Limestone is the forgiving one, as you can simply task your servants to craft it for you. But all the other materials will not be so easy to come by.
Hunter's Gear - Rarity Matters
Not all gear can be enchanted. Here is where the rarity of your gear comes into play. Rarity tier determines the number of enchantment slots your gear has.
Common - No enchantment slots.
Rare - 1 slot.
Epic - 2 slots.
Legendary - 3 slots.
Found a cool piece of gear, but it has no enchantment slots? Time to go out and hunt! And maybe the next time you open a chest, Fortuna will smile upon you.
Gems, Tears & Blood
To imbue your gear with enchantments, you will need a gem or Frozen Vampire Tear and, optionally, a Blood Vial.
Gems - The Core Component
A gem is required for every enchantment.
Gems come in different colors, and each color corresponds to a gem domain - a thematic family of enchantment effects. The rarity of a gem has two effects: it raises the probability that the enchantment attempt succeeds, and it increases the potency of whatever effect you receive.
There are five gem domains in total. When you place a gem in a slot, you're guaranteed that the result will come from that gem's domain - but the specific effect within that domain is random unless you add a blood vial.
Frozen Vampire Tears - Explore the Arcana
Once you've progressed far enough into the arcane tree, you will be able to produce a new type of gem: Frozen Vampire Tears through Tear Crystallisation. This process requires Existence and Arcana points. The more nodes you unlock in the Arcana Tree, the higher tier of Frozen Vampire Tears you can create.
Using Frozen Vampire Tears during enchanting unlocks a new gem domain - Arcana.
Blood Vial - Optional Yet Powerful
Blood Vials are an optional ingredient that lets you control the outcome of enchanting. There are six types of blood, each associated with a specific enchantment effect within a domain.
By pairing a specific blood type with a specific gem domain, you can target exactly the enchantment you want rather than hoping for the right random outcome.
Success Not Guaranteed
Enchantments are a fickle business, Bloodlord.
Every enchantment attempt can produce five possible outcomes. The outcome you land on depends on the success chance, which scales upward with gem rarity.
When the unfortunate happens, and an enchantment fails completely, don't fret. While you will lose the ingredients, you will gain a new item - Arcane Dust. The amount of Arcane Dust you receive depends on the gem’s tier (common – 1, legendary – 4).
This byproduct isn't worthless - it is an ingredient for the Arcane Crafting Potion. With it, your chances of obtaining a higher tier when crafting, enchanting, or creating a Frozen Vampire Tear are slightly increased.
May the altar favour you.
