changedHey everyone, another big week on Rennova. The ship got a lot of love, spectator mode keeps moving forward, sound design is officially in motion, and we've been grinding on polish across the board. Here's the full breakdown.
addedWe did a serious pass on the tutorial this week. The opening sequence now has proper movement restrictions so the pacing feels intentional. A crosshair has been added. The HMT can now be drawn with keys 1, 2, or 3 so you don't have to press Q every time. NPC floating markers were added to the boxes you shoot with the HMT so it's clearer what to interact with.
fixedPeacemaker's lipsync is fixed. Music and ambient sound no longer play on top of the tutorial cinematic. Ship roaming music no longer bleeds into the tutorial. The lights also properly reset when you finish so the ship doesn't stay red when you return to roaming.
addedThe MARBL pedestal has been replaced with a brand new holotable. It fits the control room much better and cables are routed cleanly into the wall. The CAC scene has been updated to use the new holotable position. Steam post image
fixedThe ship is starting to feel more alive. New flooring panel breakup meshes have been added to give interiors more detail and a more lived-in feel. Prep room lighting was fixed and toned down. Peacemaker has been moved back to the lab with a new materialization animation when you enter the room.
fixedThe ship inspect screen is working correctly from the cockpit again, and the fast travel terminal was sending players to the wrong room, that's fixed too. Tooltips have been added to CAC packs and to the play menu so players know the difference between casual, ranked, and other modes.

Update — June 6, 2026

Hey everyone, another big week on Rennova. The ship got a lot of love, spectator mode keeps moving forward, sound design is officially in motion, and we've been grinding on polish across the board. Here's the full breakdown.

Tutorial

We did a serious pass on the tutorial this week.

Peacemaker's lipsync is fixed. Music and ambient sound no longer play on top of the tutorial cinematic. Ship roaming music no longer bleeds into the tutorial. The lights also properly reset when you finish so the ship doesn't stay red when you return to roaming.

The MARBL pedestal has been replaced with a brand new holotable. It fits the control room much better and cables are routed cleanly into the wall. The CAC scene has been updated to use the new holotable position. Steam post image

Ship and Environment

The ship is starting to feel more alive. New flooring panel breakup meshes have been added to give interiors more detail and a more lived-in feel. Prep room lighting was fixed and toned down. Peacemaker has been moved back to the lab with a new materialization animation when you enter the room.

The ship inspect screen is working correctly from the cockpit again, and the fast travel terminal was sending players to the wrong room, that's fixed too. Tooltips have been added to CAC packs and to the play menu so players know the difference between casual, ranked, and other modes.

NPCs now walk around the room on their own and return to a rest position rather than standing still. Steam post image

MARBL and UI

The wrist MARBL got a full notifications tab this week. It logs match results, quest updates, rewards, and ship events, with filters to sort through them. Unread notifications pulse a small icon on the bottom left so you always know something's waiting. Banners for quest updates, rewards, and unlocks have been redesigned as individual scenes so they're easier to configure and extend.

Friends and chat in the wrist menu got a major fix. Messages now update in real time, incoming friend requests trigger a notification banner, and a pulse indicator lets you know when you have pending activity.

New keybinds are in:

  • Z = Quick Play menu

  • X = Wrist menu

  • M = MARBL menu

  • I = Missions tab

  • Y = Clans tab

  • 1, 2, 3 = HMT gun modes

Spectator Mode

Spectator is steadily getting there. Warbot abilities now sync, player names show up correctly, and players no longer spawn without a model on other clients. The ship loading system is also being reworked under the hood so roaming feels seamless as you move between rooms, with frame budget spreading out the work instead of loading everything at once. (New announcement for spectator mode will be released.)

Sound Design

Big milestone this week. A full round of SFX assets has been delivered and is being integrated. This covers card draw sounds, turn end, player HP down, shield up, stack add, stack hit, HMT holster and unholster, warbot attack sounds, stasis status effects, a generic ambient room loop, the holotable ambience loop, and NPC movement foley. Everything is balanced and sitting in a consistent loudness range. More batches are on the way.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed Peacemaker lipsync not working in tutorial

  • Fixed ambient sound and music playing over the tutorial cinematic

  • Fixed ship lights staying red after completing the tutorial

  • Fixed fast travel terminal sending players to the wrong room

  • Fixed ship inspect screen not working from the cockpit

  • Fixed vat hitboxes requiring alt to click

  • Fixed dash triggering while crouched

  • Fixed operator arms visible on the holotable

  • Fixed stacks not getting proper materials in the exported build

  • Fixed players spawning without a model in spectator

  • Fixed cursor click offset registering 12px off

  • Fixed friends not showing up correctly in party

  • Fixed client pulling incorrect game version

  • Fixed players in casual games receiving ranked matchmaking requests due to queue not clearing properly

We're getting really close to something special. Thanks for being here for it.
