Update — May 30, 2026

Hey everyone, big two weeks from the team. Ranked mode is finally here, the ship got a full lighting overhaul, spectator mode is taking serious shape, and there's a ton of polish across the board. Here's the full breakdown.

Ranked Mode

Ranked queue is wired up and working. MMR calculation is in, matchmaking bugs have been squashed, and the system is being tested end-to-end before wider rollout. Seasons and admin tools are coming soon.

All rank icons have been designed, refined, and rendered at full resolution after multiple passes. They're in the game and they look great.

Lighting Overhaul

The ship looks meaningfully better this week. The team did a full lighting pass using Voxel Global Illumination, which gives us much richer indirect lighting and proper shadows without the performance hit of older approaches.

The control room, cozy room, corridor, and tutorial areas all got reworked. The number of lights needed in the tutorial dropped significantly. Graphic settings now include toggles for SDFGI, TAA, and FSR. MSAA has been removed as it caused issues with transparency shaders.

Spectator Mode

Spectator mode is coming together. Clients now connect to a dedicated game server when joining spectate. Warbot spawning and destruction syncs between server and clients, player models sync with basic movement, and the game server now handles backend events directly and routes only what the clients need. Warbot attack timing is still being worked on.

Ship and Environment

A new boot intro screen is in. The SLATE got a texture pass. An arcade machine was added to the game room. The quest and missions menu is now functional with a dot indicator that updates when a quest progresses.

The MARBL now shows your active Mechcommander on the loadout select surface, swapping based on whichever loadout you pick. A new wrist MARBL extension panel has been integrated as a scene with more to come.

Art and Concept Work

Flora and alien plant concepts have been drafted for the Ownership ship level. Floor plans and dimensions for the first level are finalized, including the restaurant and rental spaces. Back-card art concepts are in progress with multiple color schemes being explored.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed ranked matchmaking causing players to repeatedly quit and rejoin to get into a match

  • Fixed ranked MMR calculation bugs

  • Fixed gray screen race condition on boot

  • Fixed boot loading causing instability, now loads scenes in sequence

  • Fixed cards playing to the wrong stack due to hitbox issues

  • Fixed flight chair collisions

  • Fixed Vat animations broken after operator rig change

  • Fixed light issues in the roaming tutorial

The ranked era begins. Thank you for sticking with us. More coming soon.
