Track Day: From Street to Circuit changes
Welcome, dear players! Welcome to Track Day!
Who are you and what is this?
We're a small, independent development team from Poland. We love cars and racing, and while we conceived this project fairly recently, we've been actually preparing to create Track Day for years. We did so by releasing mods for Assetto Corsa (like Tor Poznan, created by the leader of our team, Krzysztof “Szymik” Szymikowski), participating in track days or kart racing, and simply by playing and studying racing games. We felt more and more tired with creative stagnation in our beloved genre in recent years, and we finally decided to do something about it.
We wanted to take a new approach to driving cars, upgrading them and living the life of a race driver who aims to reach the top. Sure, it's a theme you've seen in hundreds of games, but this time it will be different. You'll be driving different cars on different tracks (designed as maps for freeroaming) than in most games, starting with the lowest low and climbing gradually to reach... well, if not the top then at least some heights of motorsport.
But before you achieve anything in racing, you’ll need to prove your skills in contests for amateurs and then become a professional, licensed driver. Then earn some cash and prepare your car thoroughly. Then win some races… and try not to go broke when you’ll get an invoice for repairs and sets of fresh tires. And when you make a name for yourself in Poland and other parts of Central Europe eventually, you can take the fight to the Western Europe and maybe even further.
The game is inspired by the reality of car racing in Poland. It’s a harsh but interesting reality and we wanted to give you an authentic experience of it. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Track Day is a hardcore sim. We wish to give you an accessible, customizable game where you can adjust the gameplay to your preferences by lowering or raising the difficulty level to your heart’s content (as well as making rules more or less complex). We’ll also explain the world of racing to newcomers with our RPG-inspired dialogue system. At the end of the day, Track Day is about having fun first and foremost.
Cool! When can I play it?
That's the difficult question. We have big ambitions and tons of ideas for features to implement in Track Day, but our ability to make them real depends on getting funds for development. We're actively looking for inverstors willing to support us in realizing our vision. You, players, can help us reach that goal too by supporting the project (join us on Discord via the link below for more details on that), and you’ll be among the first to taste the upcoming demo version.
Next step is to release Track Day in Early Access. However, we won't do it until we have the career mode with core features completed (some of those mentioned on the Steam page may be missing at launch) and at least the minimum amount of essential content (cars, tracks, etc.). We're going to add more features and content over time. For example, we'd like to provide VR support but it depends on the success we achieve with Track Day in Early Access.
At this point we don’t specify goals for the 1.0 release of Track Day. Our vision for the game allows us to expand it nearly infinitely. For example, when we feel we're done with European racing, we could go forth to visit America and other parts of the world. Your feedback will be crucial to determine our next steps. Therefore we invite you to take part in this automotive adventure with us and to shape the future of Track Day together.
