Tower Alchemist: Defend Khaldoria - Devlog Version 0.7.3
We are excited to present the latest updates and improvements for Tower Alchemist: Defend Khaldoria. This version marks a significant milestone for us, as it is the first demo version to be released on Steam and is available to all users.

Major Updates
Expanded Story and Voice Acting
We have introduced a comprehensive update to the game's story. A total of 412 files were added for two languages and two characters, providing over 45 minutes of voice acting. The story now takes players into the youth of the main protagonist, Milan or Sofija, who must flee their hometown after an attack and seek safety with their mother. This emotional journey ends in the demo with an exciting cliffhanger.
New Talent Tree in "The Tower Workshop"
A new talent tree, "The Tower Workshop," has been implemented. Players can now enhance their towers and give them unique abilities, such as increased range, more damage, faster firing rate, the ability to critically hit, a temporary 50% buff to firing speed, or the chance to stun enemies on hit. More updates to the talent tree will follow in Patch 0.8.
Focus System for Towers
A new focus system has been added, allowing players to manually target specific enemies with towers via right-click or automatically target specific types of enemies, such as those at the front or back, weak or strong targets.
Game Renaming
To avoid potential copyright issues, the game was renamed from "Mystic Towerdefense" to "Tower Alchemist: Defend Khaldoria." The new name better aligns with our vision for the game and avoids legal complications.
Balancing Adjustments
The game's balancing has been revised, making the levels available in the demo version more challenging.
Minor Updates
- EffectsSmoke and fire particle effects were added to the cannon towers.
Campaign Navigation: The campaign can now be scrolled, allowing players to replay old tower-defense labyrinths.
- Splash ScreenA new splash screen featuring the Weird-Chicken-Games logo and a beta status notice has been added.
- Updated Story ImagesThe story images have been updated to improve visual quality.
- UI for RoadmapA new UI element for the game's roadmap has been integrated.
Fading between story elements has been optimized/fixed.
A stun system and critical hits have been added.
Bugfixes
Towers were dealing too much damage to their preferred magic armor type.
The volume levels of the music and voiceovers have been adjusted.
A UI issue on 16:10 screens has been fixed.
Incorrect displays for damage, range, and firing rate for towers have been corrected.
Issues with subtitle display have been resolved.
A problem with the laser display of the Life Tower has been fixed.
The preview of the Death Tower was partially invisible and has been fixed.
Various tooltip displays have been corrected.
An error in the targeting calculation for the cannon tower has been fixed.
A UI error that caused only Level 1 to be playable has been resolved.
An issue where the voiceover continued despite the level being completed has been fixed.
An issue that prevented the intro video from playing on Windows 10 devices has been resolved.
