The Neeblarium changes
It has been a quieter stretch on the surface, but the Neeblarium has been anything but still. This update represents months of behind-the-glass growth — a major refactor of the core simulation, a complete HUD overhaul, tons of polish, and a stronger foundation for all the upcoming features many of you have been waiting for.
Let’s dig in. 💚
🧬 1. A Stronger Heart — Core Simulation Refactor
The Neeblarium’s internal data, genetics, and simulation architecture have been rebuilt from the ground up. It’s the largest structural update in the game’s lifetime.
What this means for you:
Smoother and more stable colonies
Better long-term behavior across generations
Faster performance with larger populations
More reliable saving and loading
Cleaner trait and genetics systems
A much easier foundation to build future features on
This update sets the stage for everything that comes next.
🌱 2. Deep HUD Overhaul — More Insight, Less Noise
A full suite of detail panels now helps you understand your world at a glance:
Biome Detail Panel
Colony-wide vitals
Florin and resource summaries
Color-coded clarity
Bed Detail Panel
Per-bed florin, food, water
Regeneration info
Historical tracking
Neeblie Detail Panel
Individual mood, needs, age
Genome traits with “+ / – deviation from baseline”
Lifecycle stage and generation count
All of this is wrapped in a unified theme, tuned colors, and a cleaner, quieter presentation.
🌊 3. Ripples, Drops & Living Beds
Florin beds now feel truly alive:
Water-like ripple effects on every Spiragrow drop
Golden expansion waves on bed growth
Instant visual and audio feedback
Clear AOE previews for resources and superfoods
Beds now breathe, respond, and communicate in soft, natural ways.
💀 4. Bed Decay & Renewal
Neglected beds now naturally fade away — and can be rescued if you intervene quickly:
Beds enter a gentle decay animation when fully depleted
All Neeblies evacuate before removal
You can still save a fading bed with well-timed resources
It creates a more dynamic, more believable terrarium loop.
🧒 5. Neeblies Have Names
Every Neeblie is now born with a procedural name, and you can rename them at any time.
Names appear everywhere — in the HUD, archivist, detail panels — and help make every little creature feel personal.
🧿 6. Eye Colors, Rarity & Heterochromia
A new visual layer of genetic charm:
Distinct left/right eye colors
Rare heterochromia
Built-in rarity tiers (Common → Legendary)
Better color identity across generations
🖱️ 7. Interaction & UI Polish
Lots of small touches that make the whole experience feel better:
Pixel-art cursors
Dynamic cursor info label
Inline renaming fields (beds, Neeblies, biomes, save slots)
Clearer sliders, better contrast
Toast notifications and smoother event feed
Cleaned-up layouts and more consistent fonts
⚙️ 8. Performance, Simulation & Save Reliability
Dozens of deep improvements across the engine:
Threaded saves (less freezing?)
Cached searches for food, water, and neighbors
Event-driven systems instead of constant polling
Stronger lineage and genome serialization
Safer, type-checked data layer
Null-safe signals and centralized event bus
Large colonies run smoother. Long sessions behave better. Saves are safer than ever.
🌼 In Short
Build 1070 is a foundational update — the quiet work that makes everything smoother, clearer, and much easier to evolve going forward.
The Neeblarium feels more alive, more readable, and more stable than ever.
🌱 Up Next (In Active Development)
These systems are underway — still alpha, incomplete, and not yet ready for the main branch. But the foundation delivered in Build 1070 has unlocked rapid progress:
🧬 The Hybridizer (Early Alpha)
DNA extraction, custom strain mixing, early breeding controls. Still rough, still missing visuals — but the engine underneath is ready.
📖 The Archivist (Early Alpha)
Family trees, ancestry, lineage depth. Core tracking is built, visuals and usability coming next.
🏆 Expanded Achievement Suite
Population milestones, lineages, rare genetics — now that timers and persistence are fixed, more are ready to ship soon.
🎓 Tutorial Rework
More natural pacing, better timing, clearer early guidance. The current tutorial is solid, but a richer experience is in progress.
🎨 Art Overhaul
We are now working with an artist on updated graphics, improved sprites, and a refreshed look for the Neeblies and UI. More visual polish is on the way — this is a big step.
💚 Thank You
This update took time because it touched every part of the terrarium. Now that the foundation is solid, expect new features to arrive more quickly — and with much more depth.
Thank you for your patience, curiosity, and support. The Neeblarium has never been stronger beneath the glass. 🌿
