Thank you for always playing The End of History.

As mentioned in the previous letter, we have moved into the implementation phase starting in April. Here is a report on this month's activities and the features currently in development.

◆ Mid-April Update (4/17)

We released the bug fix update on April 17, as announced in our previous letter. Here are the highlights:

  • Compass UI Overhaul: The design and behavior have been completely refreshed, making it more intuitive to identify directions and destinations

  • Fixed an issue where the ending could trigger at unintended times

  • Fixed an issue where players could open the map and move while in conversation with an NPC on the field

  • Localization fixes and various other bug fixes

Maintaining and improving a "stable, playable state" remains our top priority, while we continue developing new features in parallel.

◆ What We Learned from the March Research

Through the surveys, individual interviews, and third-party play observations conducted in March, the most common feedback was: "I want interactions with NPCs to feel more meaningful" and "The complexity of relationships is interesting, but it's hard to see."

To address these challenges, we spent April focused on designing and implementing relationship visualization and a revamped tavern conversation system.

2. Features Currently in Development

The following features are planned for release in May.

◆ New Character Illustrations

A female version will be added to the default protagonist character illustration.

(The option to change to a different character image, including female ones, will continue to be available.)

Additionally, many new NPC character illustrations are planned. We hope you look forward to them.

◆ Gamepad Support

Gamepad support, one of our most requested features, has largely been implemented. We are currently in the testing and bug-checking phase. Please wait a little longer until the quality of controls reaches a comfortable level.

◆ Visualizing Relationships and Impression Changes Between Characters

We are expanding the existing family tree UI to clearly display interpersonal relationships such as lord-vassal bonds, affinity, and hostility at a glance. This will make it easier to understand "who thinks what about whom," allowing players to enjoy the dynamics of human relationships more fully.

The game has always had an internal affinity system that the developer calls "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." A player's actions affect not only the person in front of them, but also ripple out to third parties who are close to, or hostile toward, that person.

This system was previously invisible to players, but by making it visible, we aim to bring hidden dilemmas to the surface and add depth to the fun of deciding "who to befriend and how to interact."

◆ Revamped Tavern Conversation System

Alongside the visualization of the "enemy of my enemy" system, we are also revamping the tavern conversation system.

Previously, tavern conversations were a one-sided affair where you simply listened to what the other person had to say. In the new system, you will be presented with choices such as "agree / disagree / deflect" in response to the other person's topics. Depending on how you react, impressions will shift not only for the person you're speaking with, but also for third parties, and those changes will be visualized on the spot.

How far will the ripples of your actions spread through the web of relationships? We aim to bring deeper strategy and meaning to even the most casual exchange at the tavern.
