Thank you for always playing The End of History.

In May, we released two updates and delivered most of the features we mentioned in the previous letter. Here is a review of this month's work and our development plans heading into June.

1. May Activities in Review

◆ Early May Update (5/7)

We implemented the features previewed in the previous letter, including:

  • Added Character IllustrationsIn addition to a female protagonist graphic, many new NPC illustrations were added
  • Relationship Visualization: NPCs who like or dislike a particular person are now displayed more clearly. Improvements were made to the tavern conversation, family tree UI, and pre-battle screens

  • Tavern Conversation System OverhaulDialogue choices were introduced, so the information you gain and impression changes now vary depending on the other person's personality and the choices you make. The impact on surrounding relationships is also visualized
  • Map display of projected march routes, soldier hover UI improvements, and more

◆ Late May Update (5/27)

We introduced two new systems that significantly change the combat experience:

  • "Pincer" System: Flanking enemies now deals heavy damage equivalent to a parry state, making positioning and formations more important than ever. In large-scale battles, encirclement can cause an entire force to collapse at once

  • "Combat Arts" SystemApproximately 30 types of arts across Levels 1-5 were introduced, ranging from special attacks like cavalry charges and battering rams, to buffs and debuffs such as food raids and march speed boosts. Both players and NPCs gradually learn them through combat experience
  • Addition of facility demolition, adjustments to declaration of war proposal conditions, and more

This update brought major changes to combat. We would love to hear your feedback through our Discord community or social media. Your voices directly shape the direction of future adjustments.

◆ Gamepad Support Progress

We continue to playtest and fix gamepad support, one of our most requested features. We are proceeding carefully to avoid releasing it in an incomplete state that would compromise the game experience. Please wait a little longer.

2. June Development Plans

◆ Notification UI and System Overhaul

We will reorganize the timing and layout of in-game notification pop-ups and system messages, establishing a priority-based display system so that important information does not get buried.

◆ Continued Gamepad Testing and Fixes

As mentioned above, we will continue testing and fixing to ensure quality before release.

◆ Adding New Unique Events and Dialogue

We will add unique events and NPC dialogue that occur in specific towns and situations. The goal is to scatter new story fragments throughout the world, expand late-campaign content, and make the relationships of randomly generated NPCs more memorable.

◆ Small Feature Additions to Better Convey the Game's Concept

Beyond the above, we are considering several additional features to better communicate the appeal of this game as a "life and history observation game." These will be implemented on an ongoing basis.

Closing

May was the month where we delivered a wave of features built on the research from March and design work from April. In particular, the introduction of "Pincer" and "Combat Arts" in the combat system aims to make every battle a different experience.

In June, we will continue to polish the overall feel of the game through UI improvements and content expansion. We appreciate your continued support of The End of History.
