Tactical Nexus changes
◆In an update a few hours ago, we added a feature—as shown in the video above—where “activating the same type of gate twice or more would pave over the gate at its previous location.” We have now removed this feature so that activating a gate no longer overwrites the original gate.
Therefore, just like in previous versions, you can now place multiple gates.
As a result, while there is still only one “warp destination” per gate, you can now place multiple “warp origins.”
(If you’re not familiar with this feature, this explanation might seem confusing, but that’s how it works now.)
◆Since the Hypergate in Chapter 6-3 (Rainbow) is designed this way by default, I thought it should be changed like this. However, as we are new to the game *Tactical Nexus* and aren’t very familiar with it, we hadn’t realized the technique that “ by placing two or more Moon Gates, you can create an environment where you can travel to the Solar Gate’s location via multiple routes (depending on the Moon Gates’ positions).”
(We recently implemented a QoL update to make the positions of Solar Gates and Moon Gates easier to understand, but that was simply to improve visibility.)
→ We develop Tactical Nexus based largely on intuition, and—starting with Chapter 1-2 (NEW) and Chapter 3-4 (Glory)—we occasionally use these “bug-like” strategies.
(Although this wasn’t intended, in EX2-3 (Beach), you can even pull off zombie-like tactics if certain conditions are met.)
Of course, we’ll address unintended behavior if it’s clearly problematic, but in this case, it doesn’t reach that level. Rather, we believe it moderately expands the game’s fun and likely has more positive than negative effects, so our stance is that if players can enjoy the game this way, there’s no need to go out of our way to restrict it.
However, we were really surprised because we hadn't thought of this use case at all.
It's a terrifying game—what was supposed to be a bug fix or a quality-of-life improvement ended up being a change to the game's specifications. I can't imagine what kind of company would develop a game like this.
◆We expect that this aspect of the game will eventually be changed to a “Legacy Level” (device) system, where “raising the Legacy Level prevents gates from being overwritten,” but for the time being, we’ll leave it as is.
