changedShortsword: Quick and ImpactfulThe Shortsword Class is the ol' good and reliable boy. Fast but not too speedy, and packs a medium punch! It features a base 3-hit light attack combo that has not too much recovery time, so you'll be slashing and able to move around without big delay! The last and 4th hit of the light attack combo is planned to be a mid-run upgrade you can acquire which allows Colt to perform the turning slash which deals 300% damage! It's much slower startup though so use with caution!
changedTitan Sword: The Bigger the Sword, The Harder It FallsDo you play Dark Souls with a big dumb sword? Do you like using a weapon that takes 3 business days to swing? Well have we got the Sword Class for you my friend! This here is a Titan Sword and it's the largest and slowest class in our whole game. But of course, it hits like a semi-truck! The light attack combo is a slow 3-hit that finishes with a wide sweeping blow and the heavy attack is a charge jump slam that can dunk of enemies from downtown and get you right into the mix.
changedBut wait, there's more!So as we mentioned there will be tons of swords for you to collect and each will fall into a respective Sword Class, but they will ALSO have a swordcery power that is unique to each individual sword. So to successfully navigate the treacherous biomes of Swordcery, you'll be utilizing the Sword Class' attacks + each sword's unique swordcery power on top of that.

Welcome to class everybody!

It's the... *checks sundial*... semester of Spring or something!

Some of you have been following Swordcery for a long time, but for those of you who are just now getting some details on the project via these Steam news updates, we'd like to tell you about some cool stuff on top of mentioning things we've been working on.

Lets cut into it!

Sword Classes

What are Sword Classes? In Swordcery, you'll come across MANY swords. Each of these blades will belong to a specific "Sword Class."Currently, we plan to have 7 Sword Classes total: Shortsword, Titan sword, Dual Swords, Rapier, Greatsword, Katana, and Dagger!

Most important to note is that each of these classes offers a different kind of playstyle! The various classes have a different light attack combo + a different heavy attack. We've recently been improving the feel of each sword class' attacks so now is a great time to talk about some of the differences that will make them fun to use!

Shortsword: Quick and Impactful

The Shortsword Class is the ol' good and reliable boy.

And its heavy attack? How about a nice multi-level charge up and release AoE! The big all surrounding spin attack acts as a perfect "GETOFFAME" for times when there's simply just too many damn enemies around. One could ponder on if this sword class was perhaps inspired by a hero of time...

Katana: Stylish and Deadly

The Katana Class is style incarnate. It has slightly longer graceful slashes that reach further than the shortsword, but has a little more startup overall. Even though it may be a lil' slower, the multi-hit light attacks more than make up for its shortcomings! Notably, the last portion of the light attack combo even scoops up enemies and sends them flying (sometimes into pits eeehehehe). As for the heavy attack, what katana combat animation set would be complete without a SICK iaido dash slash. The heavy attack can be charged up to increase travel distance. It not only slashes through enemies with style, but it can also be used to clear gaps/pits. But fair warning, if used haphazardly you could definitely end up in a pit or unintentionally surrounded by enemies!

Titan Sword: The Bigger the Sword, The Harder It Falls

Do you play Dark Souls with a big dumb sword? Do you like using a weapon that takes 3 business days to swing? Well have we got the Sword Class for you my friend! This here is a Titan Sword and it's the largest and slowest class in our whole game. But of course, it hits like a semi-truck! The light attack combo is a slow 3-hit that finishes with a wide sweeping blow and the heavy attack is a charge jump slam that can dunk of enemies from downtown and get you right into the mix.

We're still working on revamping the other classes, so we'll show those off to you later! They're equally as spicy :D

But wait, there's more!

So as we mentioned there will be tons of swords for you to collect and each will fall into a respective Sword Class, but they will ALSO have a swordcery power that is unique to each individual sword. So to successfully navigate the treacherous biomes of Swordcery, you'll be utilizing the Sword Class' attacks + each sword's unique swordcery power on top of that.

Here's a short video talking about how we take a sword from concept to completion and give it its own cool power:
