1. Safehouse Renovation Deep Dive: Plan Mode

Last time we covered how furniture gets purchased and installed. But as your safehouse fills up with more and more stuff, a natural question emerges — how do you actually plan the space?

That's where Plan Mode comes in. Once activated, you'll get a clear view of every available slot laid out across your home. From here, you can unpack and install the furniture packages you've bought, tear out old pieces you're done with, or shuffle things around to a better spot.

As development pushes forward, the variety of installable fixtures keeps growing too — beyond the basic furniture from before, new categories like planting boxes and kitchen & bath equipment have been rolling into the furniture catalog. What you set up pre-disaster directly determines which survival features you'll have access to once things go south.

2. Farming System: Your First Step Toward Self-Sufficiency

Growing your own food — probably the single most requested feature in the comments. Well, it's here.

Before disaster strikes, you can pick up seeds and the tools & consumables you'll need from the Farmers' Market, and order planting boxes from the Renovation Center to install back home. Once the world falls apart, it's up to you to gather seeds, pick the right soil and fertilizer, and get those seeds in the ground yourself — different crops have different growth cycles, but most will give you your first harvest after roughly 24 hours.

Oh, and the fertilizer source is delightfully "realistic" — every bathroom trip becomes a small contribution to your garden. A little dark humor felt right for the end-of-the-world vibe we're going for.

Fresh produce can be eaten straight up for nutrition, but it's also going to be a foundational ingredient for other systems down the line — exactly how, though, we'll keep under wraps for now.

3. New Locations Tour

We're continuing to expand the explorable world. Here's a look at what's been added or completed recently:

  • The Renovation Center (Completed)

Last log showed off the living furniture wing and the exterior. As one of the most critical pre-disaster shopping destinations, the Renovation Center is now largely wrapped up, with its interior split into five wings. This time we're taking you through the rest — the Appliances wing, the Decor wing, and the Structural Security wing:

  • The Farmers' Market (New)

A brand-new pre-disaster location. This is your hardware hub for the farming loop — seeds, gardening tools, fertilizer, and consumables all live here, alongside fresh produce and ingredients. In those final hours before everything goes dark, the Renovation Center and the Farmers' Market are probably the two spots you'll be running back and forth between.

  • The Abandoned School (New)

A sprawling new post-disaster exploration map. Once the outbreak hits, the former school is reduced to ruins — but plenty of useful supplies are still hiding in the wreckage for those willing to dig. The location is split into multiple zones, and working through it takes both time and proper preparation.

  1. On the Horizon

The safehouse systems keep getting richer, and several more survival-critical mechanics are already cooking in the background.

If you've read this far — thank you for sticking with us. We know the road to 1.0 still needs careful polish, and every comment, every suggestion you leave makes Survival Log more complete.

Catch you in the next one!
