New Features
Orbs
There are two new orbs included in this patch, the tunnel orb and the reverse orb.
Tunnel Orb
The tunnel orb acts as a normal orb, but it digs through walls upon contact, not returning. While it's inside a wall, its movement speed and gravity are halved, though they are returned to normal upon exiting the wall. This orb can be reclaimed either after it goes out of bounds, or if the player clicks. It will be instantly returned. This can be useful as you can hit enemies through walls with it if used well.
Reverse Orb
The reverse orb acts as a normal orb, but upon contacting anything, its movement direction will completely reverse, and it will go the way it came. It maintains gravity on impact. This can be useful as it can set up traps that hit most enemies going through it.
Abilities
There is one new ability added to this release, which is Relocate.
Relocate
Relocate has a short cooldown (1 sec.), and it takes any orbs that are out and instantly moves them to where your mouse cursor is. If both orbs are out, the primary orb is teleported first, then the secondary orb after a half-second delay. This can be useful as you can use it to angle orbs on enemies, move traps made out of certain orbs, or instantly hit them by releasing an orb at their location. It is good combined with slower orbs, as slower orbs give you more time to move your mouse cursor to the area you want.
Visuals
This update brings a ton of new visual upgrades.
Props
In the Dungeon and Village areas, there are now props you can find randomly scattered throughout the level, such as barrels, boxes, skulls, and more!
Haze
A new effect in the foreground is Haze, which are translucent circles and shapes that float around every room, adding atmosphere to levels.
Afterimage
When the player is moving fast, a near-black trail follows them, adding a sense of speed. The color of this is planned to be customizable in the future settings menu.
Extras
Graves
Gravestones with popups now have an exclamation mark before the popup appears, acting as a visual indicator of the danger.
Sorcerer Dialouge
The encounter with the sorcerer in the village now has some extra dialogue, adding to the lore of the game.
Spirit cutscene
As there is no dialogue between you and The Spirit, there is now a quick cutscene that appears showing The Spirit's name. This also sets up a cutscene system for any cutscenes needed in the future.
Bug Fixes
Graveyard Boss Dialouge
The dialogue for the Graveyard boss now properly appears.
Village Visuals
Issues in the village, such as brighter areas, and missing background chunks, have been fixed and now properly appear. Some visuals such as weird shading on blocks are still here, known, and hoped to be fixed by the Beta.
Next?
The next Spellsphere update, the Beta of Spellsphere, will include a ton of new content, such as new orbs, abilities, areas, enemies, NPCs, and core systems such as ways to spend Essence, ways to actually get orbs and abilities instead of starting with all of them, and a settings menu.
