Space Impossible V1.0 Pre-Release 5 is now available. Reminder what this means: As we gear up for the official Space Impossible 1.0 release, we are done with BETAs, and instead proceeding with rolling Pre-Releases as additional content, gameplay tweaks and fixes roll out at an increased rate compared to the ALPHA and BETA release schedule.
Update Notes
Pre-Release 5 sees the addition of the Black Hole Star System, a special anomaly region, and the addition of The Brotherhood of Seekers faction. Often referred to just as "The Brotherhood", they are a quiet collection of monks, searching the universe for The Truth, in whatever form that means. They operate the Space Stations around the Black Holes, researching the anomalies present in those systems. Deal politely with them, and they may allow you to access to the anomaly. They are generally pacifists, and choose to flee from conflict than take part. To that extent, they have a new shield component, the Hardlight shield, which in addition to blocking the standard energy weapons, will also block gun based attacks as well.
The Brothers operating the stations require Dark Matter for their experiments, which can be found in ship wreck regions of the Black Hole systems, an otherwise unusually desolate place. Be sure to look for them as you travel through the area.
Black Holes are not singularly rare, but they fairly uncommon, typically eight will appear in a default universe and can appear in systems level 3 or higher.
We did not get a new Problem done in time, as we wanted to get this pre-release out before the US Thanksgiving holiday.
How To Access
If you would like to check out this pre-release build all the usual things apply, it will have problems (some of which we know about) and universes created may not be compatible with the final release. Changes
Updated universe generation to generate black hole systems. Existing universes can be upgraded, as it can convert previously unvisited star systems to black holes, however we do recommend a new universe
Localized faction is now cleared when a player dies--Herman (and others) should carry less grudges across death now.
/spawnprojectile command can now take a relative x,y with the use of '~'
Changed background scaling so some system elements are a little closer
AI will now only count weapons marked as Combat or Mining in their "Can I defend myself" calculations when deciding to give up (aka fleeing)
Fixes
Fixed bug with Trader AI, should now correctly count number of nearby allies without counting itself, should behave correctly, faster
