We are currently preparing the Soul Trigger 2.0 update, focusing on a major overhaul of the existing systems.
This update is not just a simple improvement, but a complete redesign of the core gameplay into a roguelike structure.
Map Progression Rework
Moving away from the existing “Clear Area → Return → Repeat” structure,
the game will shift to a roguelike-style progression.
Progress to the next area after clearing the current one
Defeat the boss in the final area to complete the chapter
Utilize upgrades obtained during the run throughout the entire progression
Combat Reward System Rework
Instead of the current currency/harmony-based rewards, a new Trait selection system will be introduced.
Choose 1 out of 3 random traits after each battle
Trait types include:
Stat enhancements
Skill upgrades
Skill modifications
Each trait has a maximum level
Over 50 traits will be available
Combat System Improvements
Since combat makes up the majority of gameplay, it will be significantly enhanced to provide more variety and depth.
Skill system modularization
Reworked into a flexible, combinational structure
Trait-linked skill evolution
The same skill can feel different depending on upgrades
Underused skills will be fully reworked
Enhanced combat interactions
Effects based on character states
Bonus effects when hitting at specific timings
More diverse enemy patterns
Field Shop Added
To increase gameplay variety during runs, shop rooms will be added.
Appears alongside combat and event rooms
Uses a dedicated in-run currency
Available purchases include:
Health
Traits
Items
Hub Shop (Meta Progression)
A new meta progression system will be introduced.
Earn currency through repeated runs
Permanently upgrade characters in the hub
Character unlocks will require currency
Item System Improvements
Combat items, which were previously underutilized, will be reworked into powerful and strategic tools.
Increased effectiveness and damage
Designed to have a meaningful impact during combat
Story Improvements
The story will be streamlined while improving immersion.
Removal of unnecessary dialogue
Focus on key moments (such as boss encounters)
Clear early-game motivation for the player
Progression & UI Improvements
Overall game flow will be improved for better clarity and usability.
Portal information will display the next room type
Directional guidance for navigation
User-friendly UI improvements
Hub restructuring and optimization
Removal of unnecessary elements and addition of new features
This 2.0 update is a large-scale overhaul aimed at strengthening the core gameplay experience.
