Repeated intro

Hello, Jason Webb, the sole developer of Shoot Pro Wrestling 2 here, and I just wanted to give you a quick update of what I've been working on with the game as we head towards Early Access.

What changed

0 fixes3 additions2 changes0 removals
  • UI and audio
  • Gameplay
changedUpdated Wrestler ProfilesI've also made the font for the skill stats a bit bigger to improve readability on smaller screens. While it would be nice to offer the user customisable UI scaling, I'm afraid that's stretching my resources as a solo indie developer a bit far. Therefore, I'm trying to find the right compromise between readability and getting the optimal amount of information on each screen.
addedPromo SystemIt's a work in progress, as my primary focus has been the match engine, but the promo system will be developed to add more depth as time goes on.
changedAdd Your Own ImagesWhile I'm showing you these screenshots, I just want to remind you that you're not limited to the cartoon-style wrestler portraits that you see here.
addedAdd Your Own ImagesI've included a (non-AI) random portrait generator for people who want to quickly add a visual image to a wrestler. However, adding your own custom wrestler images is as easy as dropping an image file into a folder in the save directory. As long as you name it correctly, it'll be used immediately in the game once you go to the next screen where that wrestler's portrait is used. There's no need to edit XML files or change any settings in the game itself to get your custom portrait to appear.
addedAdd Your Own ImagesSo, if you want to represent your wrestlers with real photos or AI images then that's totally up to you (Note: I won't be adding any generative AI images to the game myself though).

Updated Wrestler Profiles

I've done a bit of a refresh on the wrestler profile page to make use of some of the spaces that were there before. On the left is a scout/agent report that will be familiar to anybody who played my original Shoot Pro Wrestling game.

I've also made the font for the skill stats a bit bigger to improve readability on smaller screens. While it would be nice to offer the user customisable UI scaling, I'm afraid that's stretching my resources as a solo indie developer a bit far. Therefore, I'm trying to find the right compromise between readability and getting the optimal amount of information on each screen.

Promo System

While the matches in SPW2 are live and dynamic, with wrestling moves being calculated as you watch, the promo system is more static. However, with this first iteration of the promo system, I'm trying to find ways to better reflect each wrestler's individual character, rather than just using generic descriptions.

It's a work in progress, as my primary focus has been the match engine, but the promo system will be developed to add more depth as time goes on.

Add Your Own Images

While I'm showing you these screenshots, I just want to remind you that you're not limited to the cartoon-style wrestler portraits that you see here.

I've included a (non-AI) random portrait generator for people who want to quickly add a visual image to a wrestler. Thank you for your time. I look forward to giving you more news soon... maybe even a release date...
