Shoot Pro Wrestling 2 changes
Working on Update 0.3
As mentioned in the release notes for Update 0.21, this next update I'm working on, Update 0.3, will make some changes to the behind the scenes functions of the match engine. These changes will allow the implementation of outside interference in matches, and also allow tag team matches to finally be added.
Due to these changes to the match engine potentially breaking things and requiring more in-depth testing, it's meant that this update is taking longer than the quick weekly updates that I had been doing since SPW2 first released in early access, so I humbly ask for your patience. There's only me working on this game, so I can only focus on one area at a time, and if I inadvertently break something along the way, everything else comes to a halt until the problem is fixed.
A couple of interesting match engine changes
Along with the aforementioned outside interference and tag team mechanics, there are also a couple of other interesting changes to the match engine.
Firstly, a wrestler's weight now plays a big role how much damage is done by gravity-based moves such as splashes, leg drops, and dives. What this means is that lesser-skilled "monster" wrestlers can now be much more devastating opponents just by throwing their bodyweight around.
Secondly, wrestlers will properly choose moves based on their skill in particular areas such as aerial or submission wrestling. I wasn't keen on the idea of SPW2 having pre-determined "move sets" for each wrestler. Instead, I wanted a system where each wrestler has their own individual style based on their particular mix of skills.
So, for example, a wrestler with low aerial skill won't attempt any spectacular leaps off the top rope, but may try dropkicks or a flying elbow. Once the training system is implemented in a later update, wrestlers will be able to gain access to higher level moves as their skill in a particular area improves.
Of course, a wrestler who already has very high aerial skill, for example, will perform fancy aerial moves much more often in a match, but may be less likely to perform submission or big power moves depending on how their other skills are.
Back to work for now
Like I said, this was just a quick update to keep in touch with you and let you know that progress is still being made on Shoot Pro Wrestling 2. Now, it's back to work for me, until next time.
